I created this topic to discuss whether or not Pharaoh Man should be a Flame core robot.

First off, I can clearly see why Adrian made Pharaoh Man have a Flame core. Pharaoh Man shoots waves/shots made out of pure solar energy, and this is totally fine by me. But the question is, can he actually produce heat to create fire? My opinion, no he can't.

Though, what type would he fit the best in if not Flame? Good question. Yeah, there is no good alternative. Creating a new core type for him is totally out of the question. So that's why I created this discussion.

This isn't meant to criticize your balancing skills Adrian.

I can see why you would feel that way. I guess I was basing it mostly off of the types of abilities he uses in the games their similarity to Solar Man's, but I'm open to discussion. Looking over his other abilities he's kind of bad/dark/evil too, summing zombies nd the like - maybe a Shadow core that learns some dual-type abilities? There are no other Shadow robots for MM4 as far as I remember, so it could work. Let me know what you think.

Pharaoh Shot and Pharaoh Wave are classified as Flame weapons on the Megaman Knowledge Base, but there are many Flame Robot Masters so you could make these weapons Shadow / Flame.

@Adrian, there is already Skull Man whose type is Shadow. But once again, Bright Man's weakness is Pharaoh shot, shadow against light and so on...

Shadow would fit him better than Flame, and besides, his stage is set in a tomb, it's very dark and you most certainly wouldn't first think that he uses solar energy when you meet him the first time.

I also think that if Pharaoh man was to make friends with someone of the other RMs, they would most likely be Shadow type robots (Shadow Man, Skull Man). Avocadora's idea also sounds very good.

The cycle of Mega Man 4's Robot Masters is:
Pharaoh Man > Ring Man > Dust Man > Skull Man > Dive Man > Drill Man > Toad Man > Bright Man > Pharaoh Man...
I've noticed that in the game Toad Man isn't weak against earth, so he has no weaknesses in the cycle, and Skull Man is weak against Dust Man and Drill Man. Changing the type of Pharaoh Man will make Dive Man weak against him and Skull Man, and Ring Man would have no weaknesses.

Oh wait, I'm just dumb because I'm so used to speedrun strategies and thought that it's how the weakness cycle goes.

Though yeah, stuff is getting pretty complicated right now.

The Robot Masters from the same game should follow a cycle, so they get ballanced in some way. In this case, Toad Man breaks the cycle, it should be fixed. And about Skull Man, he is weak against two robots. Maybe changing their weaknesses, Toad Man's Explode for Earth, and Skull Man's Earth for Explode makes a perfect cycle.

Thank you for pointing that out. Though, there's no data anywhere saying that Skull Man is weak to Explode, but thinking about it makes sense.

Thanks for talking this over, and I like the results you came up with. I think some changes to the original games' mechanics are necessary for this one to be properly balanced, so I'm totally okay with changes it.

@Brorman, please add these to the spread sheet when you get a chance to make sure it isn't forgotten. Thank you!

Well, Pharaoh Man was quite fast in all of his appearences. He also had a giant eye shield in the arcade game. Also in the arcade, he could summon zombie robots. So he could be any of those 4 types: Swift, Shield, Shadow or just Flame

We spoke this through with Adrian and we ended up with Flame type. Main reason was that we both agreed on Pharaoh Man being able to produce enough heat to create fire. Also that there already was a Shadow type robot in his game. He will very probably have Flame/Shadow abilities, since Adrian seemed to like the idea very much. Though yes, Pharaoh Man is really fast, but he doesn't use his agility as his main way of attacking.
