Surprise! Thanks to our very own Sean Adamson, we have an entirely new sprite sheet for Mega Man 2's Metal Man!!! Check out the awesome new sprites below:

Metal Man V2

This sprite aims to make the armor and colour choices more closely match the official artwork and other reference material. My favourite additions are the blades on the shoulders and the little metal-wheel on the back of his heel in the dash sprite - they make him look so much more menacing than before and I'm very grateful for Sean's work - thank you so much!

Personally, I think the Mega Man sprites need a revamp. In my opinion, it's a case of "this is good, but it could be better." The classic Mega Man sprites are, well, classic, and that's not a bad thing. However, Mega Man, as the main character of the series, could have more detail and just a better look overall.

Not necessarily a full revamp, but could we give Cut Man and Bomb Man a nice orange color in place of that gaudy pinkish-red? And while we're at it, we may as well give Guts Man, Fire Man, Elec Man, Quick Man and Heat Man that nice red Metal Man has now too.

I feel like the red on Metal Man may be too bright so I'm considering darkening or desaturating it a bit - it might not be an official NES colour when I'm done with it but it feels way too intense when compared to other robots or put up against the existing stage backgrounds.

As far as the other requests, I'll think about them. Some definitely need to be recoloured, especially all the red robots, I just have to make sure it doesn't stray too far from the NES-inspired pallet.

Really nice redo. Love the sparks in the dash and the red you chose but...

I knew the red wouldn't agree with you! :p Send me the red you intend to use so I can incorporate it when I redo GutsMan.

Hello everyone! Metal Man's sprite sheet has been updated again by Sean and he's fixed up a few issues with the chest area and I tweaked the red a bit to make it look less loud. I think we have a pretty fantastic sheet now! Compare the one above and the new one below (you may need to do a hard refresh to see the differences):

In my opinion, those robots would love a revamp:
A)Ice Man
Sprite from the MMRPG Prototype
Simple=/=good. Some details are missing and face is just wrong.
B)Bubble Man
Sprite from the MMRPG Prototype
Also missing details (like the vanished chest armor...) Green could be made darker a bit, but that's a matter of preference.
C)Fire Man
Sprite from the MMRPG Prototype
Just like the others, details. A somewhat pinkish armor (instead of the pure red in the artwork) and a non-matching helmet don't give this guy any love. And since when his eyes are red?

Glad everyone liked Metal Man! He has always been my sentamental favorite and I put a lot of time( maybe to much time, sorry Adrian!!:)) into getting him just right. So, I am finishing a special Sprite Project for Adrian right now. Once that in complete my next obligatin is Knight Man. Once that is complete, I will start revamping Robot Masters from MM1-MM2.

I can't wait to see some sprites of Solar Man, Number Man and Blossom Woman.

Oh, and as for the Metal Man sprites, they look rather stunning. I especially like all the details that were put into them as well, too, such as his buzz-saw shoulders and whatnot.
