Hey look, a Mega Man fact thread?! That's right, this thread is entirely based on the facts we know of Mega Man that might sound a little kooky or a bit out-there, but they tend to make it so that the Mega Man Series has it's fair share of interesting facts! So, let's try to get out there and spread that learning!

Awesome idea!

Bass and Treble / Forte and Gospel were originally going to be called Crush and Baroque. And now you know where I got the names for Bass' two level-up abilities! ;)

Did you know that Mega Man 2 was going to have 2-players with the second character being Roll? Imagine playing multiplayer on Heat Man's block of doom stage. Capcom thought Mega Man had mostly boy fans so they went aganist the idea.

Did you know that Splashwoman and Hornetman underwent nyotaika in development? Their original names were Oceanman and Honeywoman. We need those two for Hetalia's Nyotalia!

Did you know that before Rush was chosen to be Mega Man's companion, a Hawk looking robot was going to help out Mega Man, and according to the Complete Works, the hawk was what eventually became Beat.

Did you know that in Mega Man 3, Rush was supposed to have a Drill mode that was eventually scrapped when it was found that players could skip most of a level. The drill was eventually used in Marvel v. Capcom

Did you know that originally Yamato Man was going to have a katana, not a spear for a weapon. Capcom realized the unpopularity of melee weapons(charge kick and top spin) and changed it into the spear we know today.

Did you know that Zero was conceived as a radical redesign as X? They thought it wasn't very "Mega Man" and used a different design. Since I'm feeling gracious, did you know Dr. Cossack was originally called Dr. Vice?

Here you go! Did you know that in Mega Man Zero in Japan, whenever you used the Z-saber on an enemy, blood can be seen. This was edited in international releases for obvious reasons.

Oops, forgot to post.....

In the Archie comics World Collide saga, Metal Sonic and Bass were supposed to fuse.

EDIT: Way too small! If you can't see that, here you go!

Did you know that Ice Man has a crush on Roll in the mangas and comics as well as Battle and Chase?

Here's one. We all know the Yellow Devil, but in America, he was called the "Rock Monster". It was changed because of early Nintendo's policy to NOT have religious references.

The only reason Mega Man is blue was because the NES had the most shades of blue, and the developers wanted Mega Man's sprite to be as detailed as possible.

Also, Iceman also had a crush on Roll in Megaman Battle and Chase (the racing game) as well. But, I guess the only thing that really matters here is that Iceman liked Roll in the first place.

Mega Man changing colors when he got a weapon was originally a mistake; during testing of the Rolling Cutter weapon, Mega Man somehow took on the palette of Rolling Cutter. The developers liked the idea and decided to incorporate it into the game.

Not exactly a fact, but it is believed that Napalm Man's stage in Mega Man 5 is based of Vietnam. Here's some evidence:

-The jungle-like setting.
-The robot tiger enemies. Indochinese Tigers are native to Vietnam.
-The underground tunnel (the one with the drilling robots). During the Vietnam War, South Vietnamese guerillas used a vast network of underground tunnels to sneak around unnoticed.
-The spike pits in his stage resemble punji traps, concealed pits of wooden stakes employed by the South Vietnamese.
-Napalm Man himself. Napalm was a flammable liquid used by the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War; its use was banned by the United Nations in 1980.

In fact, rumor as it that Mega Man 5 was banned in Vietnam, as Vietnamese would find Napalm Man and his stage offensive.

Not really a fact, but this is a cool little thing so...
A character named Luste Teuber from the Japanese dōjin series, Rosenkreuzstilette bares a resemblance to Proto Man in the sequel Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~. However, on April Fool's for the site of the game, there is a picture of Luste Teuber wearing Proto Man's scarf and his shades/visor.

(these names get pretty hard to spell...)
If that wasn't enough, there is a character named Proto Boy from the show "Robot Boy" who hates his creator for abandoning him, similar to Proto Man.

Did you know that the Mecha Dragon appears in "I wanna be the guy"? He fights like the Yellow Devil. Also, the Mecha Dragon lays eggs in Power Fighters, meaning it might be a female, if it even has a gender......

Did you know that Proto Man EXE was going to have a scarf? Keiji decided not to have clothes in EXEs, but Bass EXE broke this rule.

Actually glad how that turned out. Bass.EXE looks more BA with it than Protoman.EXE would imo.
