Hey pals, it's me, Spinstrike! Yep, I'm back, and just in time for the new update! So, here are my thoughts:

Chapter 1: The first chapter definitely has the most changes, at least on a superficial level. Sniper Joe was a neat addition, but I think Trill could be toned down a bit to provide a better transition to the Robot Master battles.

Chapter 2: Same as before, at least at first. The Sigma battles were a bit of a surprise, but they were a great challenge for postgame play.

Chapter 3: Like Meta said, the increasing difficulty for the rival battles is great for grinding. A little tougher than I remember.

Chapter 4: See Chapter 2.

Chapter 5: Enker and the Copy Bots are a bit tougher than I remember. They are the game's "final bosses" at the moment, so that makes sense.

Bonus Chapter: The addition of Mets, Sniper Joes, and the Copy Core robots was a nice touch, and I can assume the support trio are there as well. The difficulty hasn't changed that much, though.

By the way, does anyone now how to access Robot skins? They're not in the shop, and I haven't been able to unlock them via grinding.

[Wise fwom youw gwave!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOQcnliEjXM)

Anyone remember this thread? Just me? Aw, well. There isn't a chat tonight, so I may as well take the time to post a few headcannons I've had lying around for a while.

o Metal Man is a skilled mechanic, and Wily often tasks him with repairing the other Robot Masters after Rock roughs them up. He isn't very gentle, though, and his bedside manner is lacking...
o Heat Man and Crash Man are best buddies. They hang out a lot on and off duty, and Heat is usually the one to calm Crash down whenever he gets riled up.
o After the events of Mega Man 4, Dr. Cossack employs Skull Man as a sort of lab assistant/butler/bodyguard. Oh, and as a babysitter and playmate for Kalinka.
o Proto Man is more musical than he lets on. Besides his trademark whistle, he's composed quite a few tunes while wandering the Earth. Whenever he visits Cossack Citadel, he and the similarly-minded Toad Man get together for a jam session or two.
o Fire Man enjoys watching reruns of Gunsmoke and old John Wayne westerns.
o Plug Man's favorite anime is Cowboy Bebop, followed closely by Space Dandy.
o Top Man is a total nerd for 70's-80's pop music, and has a ton of old-school tape decks in his quarters in Wily Castle. Magnet Man regularly scrambles them with stray electromagnetic pulses, much to Top's dismay.
o Rock is a rabid FIFA fan, especially when World Cup season rolls around(he always roots for Japan, of course). Mega Man's Soccer is the result of Bomb Man spiking one of Rock's E-Tanks during a particularly wild victory party.
o Guts Man isn't as thick-headed as his brothers think. He actually has incredible knowledge in civil engineering and classical architecture.

I know it's past Halloween, but I just can't get [Ghosts by Mystery Skulls](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlEb3L1PIco) out of my head! It's probably one of the catchiest techno-pop tunes I've heard in a long while. Fair warning, though: I'd rate this song T for a single F-bomb (though it's a bit hard to make out unless you're looking for it), implied dismemberment, and some major feels near the end. Oh, and spectral fire pompadours.

"Beg pardon sir, but-ack!" Print Man blurted as Knight's blow forcibly dismounted him from the Iron Horse. However, his left foot remained stuck in the stirrup, leaving the author-bot to be dragged about the chamber. Barley maintaining his grasp on his Vorpal Pen , Print Man let loose a stream of ink from the tip of the blade, tripping the pursing Knight and leaving him covered in the slimy black liquid. "Would someone-oof!-mind igniting-arugh!-that puddle?" Print Man stuttered amidst the flurry of kicks from the unruly Iron Horse.

Hurray for posting on your own threads! Anyhow, here are my ideas...

-Pharaoh Man: A Ruby-Spears cartoon themed palate. Sweet cape and uppercuts not included.
-Ice Man: A dark blue palate. Another, albeit subtle, Ruby-Spears reference.
-Hard Man: A red, white, and blue palate. A nice Rocky 4 reference, in response to this.
-(Solid) Snake Man: A palate based off any of Metal Gear's Snakes (maybe one of Naked Snake's camo patterns from Snake Eater?) Why? Because puns, that's why.
-Heat Man: A silver palate, similar to a Zippo lighter. Might snag us a lawsuit, but we should be fine as long as we don't drop any names.

Seizing the opportunity Gamble Man had so generously provided, Print Man ripped a strip of cloth from a half-burnt banner. Taking a end in each hand, he wrapped it around a nearby column and pulled himself up with it, gaining an excellent vantage point over the battle. "Steady...steady..." Print Man muttered to himself as he heard the cloth begin to tear.

He didn't have to hold on for long. Soon enough, Insanity Man barreled toward the pillar he was desperately clutching to, prompting Knight's steed to knock him away yet again. Just before it could return to the engagement, Print Man leapt from his perch and landed atop the distracted mount. He scrambled for the reins as the iron horse attempted to buck him off its back.

Ducking behind a pillar to evade Knight's charge, Print Man took a moment to strategize. A knight on horseback...just as I theorized!" He thought to himself. "If King's challenges are chess-themed, and we've already seen a Pawn and a Knight, next will be a Rook, a Bishop, a Queen, and finally...a King. The King, no doubt."

"But back to the situation at hand. If my studies of medieval literature have taught me anything, it's that plate armor was bulky and difficult to maneuver in on foot. If a strong enough blow can forcibly dismount that fiend, he'll be a sitting duck while we bombard him from afar!"

Print Man's musings were interrupted as Knight battered through the pillar he was taking cover behind. Scrambling back to his allies, Print Man unsheathed his Vorpal Pen and prepared for battle.

The torrent of water flung Print Man across the courtyard, dropping him onto a hedge row. Seething in fury, he armed his Pencil Buster and targeted the Pawn in the fountain. But after pausing for a moment, he instead shot at the base of the statue of King atop the fountain, casing it to fall onto the hapless Pawn bellow.

Before Print Man could rejoin the rest of the party, the two Pawns he had knocked away leap up and grasped him by the coat and punning him down. Landing on his bottom, he retaliated by swiftly kicking both Pawns; one landed in a hedge row a few meters away, while the other was knocked into the fountain halfway across the courtyard. The former got right back up and rushed towards him, only to be met with a hail of shots from his Pencil Buster.

"Who's the comic relief now, eh?"

"'Comic relief'? Why, I never!" Print Man exclaimed as he suddenly got to his feet. Drawing his Vorpal Pen, he knocked away both Pawns with a well-placed slice.

Spitting the dirt from his mouth, he took a moment to examine his surroundings. The beautiful courtyard had been thrown into disarray, with several shrubs uprooted and a few on fire. An elegant fountain stood in the middle of the chaos, topped by a shield-bearing statue of King. Normally, Print Man would have taken a moment to awe at its beauty.

But now was not the time. "We'll see who's the real comic relief!" cried Print Man as he rushed into battle.

Panting heavily, Print Man stumbled toward the rest of the party. Not the most athletic of robots, he’d been lagging behind for most of the journey. It was just his luck that King had installed an anti-teleportation field around his tower, probably to keep out any unwanted visitors. He hadn't heard much of the gatekeeper robot’s speech, but he’d heard enough to know the robots he’d been traveling with in stony silence for the last few hours were now his only allies.

Print Man looked about at the three other robots in front of him. The first was the tallest of the bunch, casting a massive shadow over his smaller compatriots. A purple, armadillo-like shell almost half his size hung from his back, and a devilish smirk crossed his face. The second was much stouter, with a bright orange hull decorated with red and black markings, much like those of playing card suits. His expression was blank, but it was clear he was carefully observing everyone around him. The last was what appeared to be a mechanical iteration of a high fantasy wizard, complete with a robe, pointed cap, and staff. He sat in a meditative stance, legs crossed and eyes closed.

After a full minute of silence, Print Man dusted off his coat, adjusted his beret, cleared his throat, and began to speak.

“Afternoon, gentlemen. Seems like we’re together in all this, so like that gatekeeper fellow said, we may as well get acquainted.”

Silence.

“…guess I’ll go first, then. The name’s Print Man; I’m an author. I trust some of you are familiar with my work? Not that it matters now, what with the situation at hand.”

More silence. This time accompanied by razor-sharp glares.

“Erm…anyone else care to introduce themselves?”

Here’s my entry. I might tweak it a bit, though. And here's a song for your listening pleasure; I think it suits the character quite well.

“A gauntlet, eh? This is exactly what I need for my next book! I’ll make those fools tremble before the power of literature!”

Entry Fourm
Name: Print Man
Designation: MPN. (Monsteropolis Publishers Number) 012

Background:
Print Man was one of many robots charged with the operation and patience of printing presses of a major publishing company. Soon after his activation, he grew tired of printing the writings of others and wished to express his own creativity. Eventually, he quit his job and decided to write his own book. Print Man spent several years in isolation, all spent on creating his “masterpiece”. Entitled Oil and Ink, it was a “true-life drama” about a robot who quits his job at a print-shop and writes a best-selling novel.

The latter cannot be said of Print Man: Oil and Ink sold an astounding seven copies and made its author less than a hundred zenny. He immediately became the laughingstock of both Monsteropolis his former company. Publicly humiliated and out of a job, Print Man sunk into a deep depression. He frequented oil bars, drowning his sorrows in E-Tanks while sharing his woes with anyone who would listen. He still wrote, becoming a freelance writer for some of Monsteropolis’ independent literary journals.

Upon hearing of King’s Gambit, Print Man had a glimmer of hope. If he could defeat the tin-plated tyrant’s challenge, he would have the story of a lifetime! A thrilling tale of swashbuckling adventure would be a perfect page-turner! Print Man immediately set out for King’s Tower, his mind adrift in thoughts of riches and fame…

Weapons/Abilities:
Having little to know combat experience before hearing word of King’s challenge, Print Man raced to assemble a makeshift arsenal. Remembering the old adage of “The pen is mightier than the sword”, he combined the two instruments into one lethal device. Dubbed the “Vorpal Pen”, this weapon can disorient Print Man’s opponents with industrial-grade printing ink, leaving them wide open for a lethal slash. For ranged combat, Print Man relies on the “Pencil Buster”, a pencil-styled gattling gun that fires finely-sharpened tungsten points (resembling the graphite tips of pencils).

Personality:
Print Man is extremely talkative, capable of waxing on about a single subject (usually his own work) for hours. His long seclusion has made him rather awkward in public; while his writing may be eloquent, he is not. He has also known to dabble in theater, having acted in several local productions of R. U. R. prior to his entry into the Gauntlet. He reveres the authors, poets, and playwrights of days gone by like gods among men, quoting them whenever he sees fit. Print Man enjoys spending his afternoons libraries and bookstores, but despises “lesser publications” such as romance novels and tabloids.

Appearance:
Print Man has a humanoid design that calls Crash Man, Flash Man, and Magnet Man to mind, albeit in a dirty white. He conceals himself beneath a trench coat and “artistic” beret. His left hand holds his Vorpal Pen, while his right is an emplacement for his Pencil Buster.

Accepted!

@CHAOS_FANTSY Yeah, because the Mega Man series never had any [gratuitous violence, ridiculous story-lines, or barbaric writing. Except that one time...

In all fairness, though, I respect your opinion. The RP fourm can get a little crazy sometimes, but maybe someday, it can become something beautiful.

I always found Crash Man the easiest boss in Mega Man 2. Sure, Metal Man and Air Man go down quicker with the Mega Buster, but at least they can score a few hits on me. Crash Man? Not so much. He may look intimidating, but once you get his pattern down, he's a cakewalk. Shoot at him to make him jump, jump over his Crash Bomb and get clear of its blast radius, then shoot Crash as comes down. Air Shooter makes him even more pathetic; if you're lucky, you can use it to kill him in one hit! Even then, 2-3 hits is still pathetic.

stone-man Yeah. I kind of blew my vacation cashola on pay-per-view movies, and the hotel kicked me out. But that’s not the point! Dr. Wily has a mission for us!
crash-man A mission? What is it?
stone-man The Doc didn’t give me all the details but from what I can gather, those Mega Man Killer guys went berserk and ran off. Apparently they stole some kinda
super-prototype robot he was working on, and we need to get it back before they use it or whatever
magnet-man I never trusted those weirdoes. Something about ‘em just gives me the shivers.
crash-man How dare they betray Master Wily! Come on, you guys! Let’s scrap those traitors and get that robot back!
magnet-man You and Stone go on ahead. I’m gonna see if I can’t find any more Wily Numbers. We’ll need all the help we can get to take down the Killers.
stone-man Good idea! We’ll meet up at the construction site; that’s where they’re holed up.

punk Ha! More tin cans to crush!
enker This is serious, you nitwit! Looks like that Pyre Fly flew off while we were talking. It's probably reporting to Cossack right now.
Just help me set up the transmission, and then we'll rendezvous with the others.

In the year 200X...er, 20XX...

Even as Mega Man and his mechanical compatriots struggle to escape the Prototype and defeat the mysterious Slur, life goes on. Between battles, the Robot Masters and Mistresses can always find an unused field lying about to shoot the breeze and have a few E-Tanks.

After being snubbed for the enigmatic MegaBossMan's first annual "Best Original Robot Master" award, Bomb Man sought to drown his sorrows the only way he knew how: high-powered explosives. Bomb Man and his Explode-type pals got together to chuck a few bombs around and vent their frustrations. However, Bass, under the guise of Proto Man, corrupted the group's intentions and tricked them into nearly obliterating the Prototype in order to lure Mega Man into yet another "final confrontation".

Mega Man caught wind of the "Bomb Gang"'s scheme while attempting to join their group. With the aid of the first generation robot masters (sans Bomb Man), Top Man, the newcomer Sargent Man, and even the mysterious Btman, the Blue Bomber blew Bass' plans to smithereens and saved the day yet again. All that's left to do is deal with the "Bomb Gang" themselves...

(OOC: Nothing special here, just a bit of intro narration to catch everyone up to speed. Try to imagine someone reading this like an old-timey newsreel. Or the narrator from Bastion. Or Morgan Freeman.)

Just so you guys know, I won't be able to attend tonight's chat, as I'm going to see Guardians of the Galaxy with some friends. However, I'd like to post my ideas for Needle Man's T1 and Top Man's T2.

I originally hoped that Needle Cannon would become Needle Man’s pure-Cutter T1, allowing for a more creative T2. After failing to persuade Adrian to change Oil Slider into a Earth/Swift-type ability, I don’t think that’s likely. Anyhow, Needle Driver would revolve around Needle Man’s battering ram-like head. I’m not exactly sure how it would work, though. Maybe it could reduce defense and make Needle Cannon more effective? Needle Man’s existing sprites would be problematic; maybe we could use a special add-on for the head, like the Hyper Bomb that used to appear next to Bomb Man before he got his new sprites.

For Top Man’s T2, I was inspired by his ability to deflect attacks by spinning. Top Spin (The existing Top Spin could be renamed Top Throw) would generate a spinning vortex around the user, nullifying all damage ala Skull Barrier. Unlike Skull Barrier, the vortex can be kept up by repeatedly using the ability (much like the effects of Bubble Spray and Oil Shooter). Once a different ability is used, the vortex is launched at the opposing player’s front row robot for damage (slightly less than other Shield abilities, at least). I think it would be cool if a speed-based bot like Top Man had a defensive ability to compensate for their minimal defense. Making it a T2 would make sure it couldn't be spammed (it would use up energy on each turn, unlike other Sheild abilities), and Impact and Explode-type abilities could penetrate the vortex, dealing damage and dispersing it.

If anyone would mind bringing up these ideas during the chat, even if it’s just copy-pasting them, that’d be great.

I keep thinking that Flash Man's 2nd-tier should be Time/Crystal. It'd be a pretty interesting combination. Plus, crystals are pretty flashy, right?

TheDoc's "Time Bender" idea also sounds interesting.

Also, quotes for Plug Man! His bio from the Robot Master Field Guide indicates he's a shopaholic anime geek, which sets him apart nicely from the other Electric-type robots. plug-man

Start: “Let’s be quick! There’s a sale at Big Eddie’s!”
Taunt: “So, Robot…what’s your favorite anime?”
Victory: “I’m meeting some friends in Akihabara once I get off work. Interested?”

I noticed Trill doesn't have any quotes yet. As a counterpoint to his appearance in Rockman EXE Beast, I wrote him as an obnoxious, arrogant little brat. Think those shrieking little kids you see in most FPS multiplayer games (COD, Battlefield, Etc.), but as evil space robots.

Start: "If you wanna get to Miss Slur, you're gonna have to go through me first!"
Taunt: "Just 'cause I'm a kid doesn't mean you're stronger than me!"
Victory: "Go ahead and cry, you big baby!"
Defeat: "B-but there's no way you could have won! *sob* You must have cheated!"

Now we move ahead to Mega Man 8. But first, we need to go back a bit. Now, we assume that the battle between Duo and the Evil Energy Robot (who I shall refer to as EER) occurs right before the events of the actual game. However, space is far more massive than science fiction portrays it (TV Tropes has a nice article on this), and by current estimates, it would take 3 years to travel from Saturn, where the battle seems to take place, to Earth. What’s not to say that a few parts of the EER (more specifically, those big ol’ jewels on his head and chest) broke off as it hurtled towards Earth, particularly during the rough trip though the asteroid belt? And what’s not to say those parts reached Earth first?

That’s right! The energy elements from Mega Man 3 are actually fractured parts of the Evil Energy Robot from the opening of Mega Man 8!

Just as luck would have it, Duo and the EER land on a desert island those houses one of Wily’s outposts. The mad doctor whisks away the EER’s power core for further study, and sure enough, it’s the source of the energy elements. Wily uses the EER’s corrupting virus, which is actually the “Evil Energy” that Duo seeks to eradicate, to power up Bass his new line of Robot Masters. Fortunately, Mega Man is able to defeat Wily with the help of a rebuilt Duo. This time, Wily is gene-savvy enough to hide a few Evil Energy samples before the destruction of Wily Tower. He continues his experimentation with the extraterrestrial substance while beginning work on his own magnum opus: Zero. Robots don’t come cheap, though, and Wily is strapped for cash post-Mega Man 8. By reprograming Dr. Light’s expired Robot Masters and pinning the blame on him, he manages to extort funds from the naive public with the promise of combat robots to put down Light’s supposed rebellion.

Previously, Evil Energy could on spread to robots that were in direct contact with its original source: the EER. Wily’s experimentation allowed infected robots to spread it, creating the Roboenza Virus. Wily pretends to help Light manufacture a cure in order to infect Mega Man, but his scheme fails thanks to Roll sacrificing herself to save her brother. Even so, Wily realizes that Roboenza is far too easy to cure, and decides to start from scratch. To give himself a blank slate to work with, he gives Light enough of the cure to eradicate Roboenza.

With his health rapidly declining, Wily quickly finishes Zero and uploads a new version of Evil Energy into his system. Christened the “Zero Virus”, this form of Evil Energy not only causes robots to lash out at whatever they see, but also alters their mind to conform with Wily’s twisted dream of a human-free world. Wily seals Zero away, dying soon afterward.

Zero awakens a century later. The Zero Viruis is far more effective than Wily could have imagined; rather than being a simple carrier (ala Typhoid Mary) , Zero becomes a savage berserker, killing any Reploid that crosses paths with him. What few Reploids survive Zero’s rampage are repaired, now unwilling carriers of the Zero Virus. Instantaneous teleportation allows the Zero Virus to become an epidemic in mere days. Since Wily did not account for advances in robot technology, the virus lies dormant in highly-advanced Reploids, only causing primitive Mechanaloids to become what the media dubs “Mavericks”. Disturbed by this course of events, Dr. Cain creates the Maverick Hunters to protect innocent humans and Reploids. Cain appoints Sigma, one of his most advanced Reploids, as the unit’s commander. Sigma manages to track down Zero, and the two get into a scuffle. Sigma shatters the gem on Zero’s forehead, which simultaneously frees Zero from the Zero Virus and infects Sigma with it. Unlike the Mechanaloids, Sigma is smart enough to infect other Reploids and begin an organized rebellion against humanity. I trust you all know how the story goes from here.

In summary, Mega Man 3 is the first sighting of the Maverick Virus that literally plagues the rest of the timeline up until Mega Man Zero. Funny how something that started with a peacekeeping robot named after a Greek letter ended with a peacekeeping robot named after a Greek letter.
