Let's say I do decide to start doing repeats. Should I be asking you all to make new suggestions, should I be pointing out the old suggestions they had, or should I be doing both? :P

@TheDoc : It's also worth mentioning that there were guys like MegaMan.exe, Magic Man, King, Bass, and most notably, Ballade, that never got a real chance to prove how much of a contender they'd actually be because they just happened to get caught in awkward battles with unexpected vote totals. In fact, with the exception of Mega Man > Ballade, all of the other 4 battles--Roll > MegaMan.exe, ProtoMan.exe > Magic Man, Skull Man > King and Enker > Bass--were ALL decided by a difference of just ONE vote.
As far as I can tell, all 8 of these characters have the potential to be Division Finalist material at the very least--some might even challenge the likes of Vile, Sunstar, Mega Man and Proto Man, themselves. That's just a prediction, though; we'll see for sure in 2-3 months. :P

@MusicalKitty : You mean, like a Tournament of Champions. GameFAQs did 2 of those with their Character Battles, too.
Link won both of them. Pretty much just as easily as he's won 4 of the 7 GameFAQs Character Battles that he's shown up in. Now, granted, I'm almost positive that this is because there's always a prize in it for whoever predicts the bracket most accurately, and there was no such prize for this Tourney. There likely won't be, either, 'cause as far as I've seen, that would corrupt the unpredictability of this tournament by having the same people vote for the same characters over and over again, even when they wouldn't, otherwise. That's no fun.
I know of ways to keep this tourney fresh besides including prizes; if the 2nd one turns out to be subpar [it SHOULDN'T, but, it could], and people still want a 3rd one, I'll have a way to make that one better. I promise. A mad genius always has backup plans for his backup plans. :P

@Meta : I just told you, it's called "Seasonal". Some also call it "Quarterly", but, either one works. :P

@TailsMK4 and @Tobyjoey : Yeah, I could go with a whole seeding, ranking thing, but, that creates massive amounts of predictability. I figured it would be much better for every1 if the entire bracket was randomized without me tinkering with it at all; this makes for boring blowouts, like the aforementioned King > Bomb Man, but also crazy upsets, like Enker > Bass, Auto > Ring Man, Sigma > Zero and, of course, Proto Man > Sunstar. With all due respect, There was always either 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or--in the case of the Final Battle and the Galaxy Man > Saturn tie that I had to break--11 voters. This could easily change 2-3 months from now, as we won't have precisely the same audience.....I think. Proto Man, for all the votes he had going for him, still had some pretty close calls down the home stretch; He only beat Mega Man by 2 and he only beat Sunstar by 1--that could easily reverse if they ever face off again, 'cause it won't be the same 10 and 11 people voting on it. I guarantee it.

Whether Proto Man maks it in or not, I'll leave it up to the people of Prototype; there'll be no Guaranteed entries for the 2nd Tourney. If he does win that one, too.....well, your idea will be a lot easier to consider, then, won't it, T.J.? :P

@Meta : It's called "Seasonal", my friend, due to how the seasons change every 3 months. "quad-yearly" isn't a thing, and even if it was, that would be every 4 years. :P

Definitely a Level 100 Pikachu, here

I'm still determining if there's anyone in the Top 50 that I HAVEN'T interviewed that still comes around here on at least an almost-regular basis--I'm still waiting to hear back from Spinstrike, after all, and I don't wanna wait that long for anyone else. If there aren't any, that's cool, too, 'cause then I get to do REPEATS! WHOOOO!

Srsly, though, any ideas, fellow programs?

@TheDoc: Awww, you're too kind. You kick butt, too, for all the work YOU put into participating in it so much. =)

Actually, I've said this is the Chat plenty of times, but, if there is a 2nd Tourney, I'd be nixing the idea of the 5 Mega Men being guaranteed entries altogether. In fact, not even Proto Man will be guaranteed in. To compensate for this, I'll be allowing 30 nominations per person instead of 25, next time.

There's also pleanty of characters that people forgot that I think would be pretty good contenders, if nothing else. Not naming names, though. :P

Proto Man will likely have even stiffer competition, next time. Just sayin'. :P

@MegaBossMan : The Final battle was not only the most popular non-Mikey battle of the whole tourney, but, Proto won it by one, buddy. That IS theatrics. Put it this way, what was more theatrics: The Final Battle or King vs. Bomb Man [R1 of Division 5]? :P

Oh, also, I edited the opening post. =)

Sorry about the extremely late announcement, here; meant to do this earlier, tonight, but, I had too much stuff going on my comp at once, and I shut it off to let is rest before rebooting it, completely forgetting about this. :P

Anyway, we have our tournament champion:

THE FINAL BATTLE [voting ends at 11:59 PM, EST on 1/2/16]:
Proto Man [Mega Man 3]
vs.
Sunstar [Mega Man World 5]
(6-5)

It's an upset and a half, in all honesty. StupidStudiosN broke the tie with his vote. It was a close one, but, you, the people of Prototype, have decided that Proto Man is the greatest Mega Man Character EVER....for now, at least.

[The pastebin has been updated accordingly, along with the [almost] complete rankings of all 71 characters who made it into the tourney, from the Eliminator all the way to the Final Battle.](http://pastebin.com/D8gmNq4J)

When you're done looking at that, do me a favor and vote on one last bonus battle:

BONUS BATTLE!
2 months vs. 3 months [voting ends at ??:?? pm on ??/??/????]

How long should we wait before doing another tourney like this?

Also, feel free to give me your thoughts on the tourney itself; How do YOU feel about it?

Tron Bonne [Mega Man Legends]
(5-2)

Rock Man Shadow [Rock Man And Forte: Mirai Kara No Chosenshu]

I just thought it was worth mentioning that Sunstar got what's called in the Mortal Kombat circles as a "Double Flawless" in rounds 1 and 2.

Division 7 Final:
Sunstar [Mega Man World 5] vs.
Gemini Man [Mega Man 3]
(6-2)

I think we have a new favorite for the Grand Division. Who will have the unlucky task of facing him? Only one way to find out: Enter the 8th and final Division!

Division 8, Round 1 [12/28/15]
Duo.exe [MegaMan Battle Network 4] vs. Tron Bonne [Mega Man Legends]
Shade Man [Mega Man 7] vs. Rock Man Shadow [Rock Man And Forte: Mirai Kara No Chosenshu]
Bass [Mega Man 7] vs. Quick Man [Mega Man 2]
Mikhail Cossack [Mega Man 4] vs. Enker [Mega Man World]

Who will be our final Grand Division entry? Let's see!

@TinyTailsMK4 : I'm afraid your vote came 3 minutes too late, friend [12:02].

.....not that it mattered:

Division 7, Round 2 [voting ends at 11:59 PM on 12/26/15]:
Elec Man [Mega Man]
vs. Sunstar [Mega Man World 5] (7-0)
Roll [Mega Man]
vs. Gemini Man [Mega Man 3] (7-0)

Glad I didn't make any predictions. I could make some for the final, but, that'd be considered swaying.

Division 7 Final [voting ends at 11:59 PM on 12/27/15]:
Sunstar [Mega Man World 5] vs. Gemini Man [Mega Man 3]

Let's see if there's any remaining upset to be had. TO BATTLE!

Well, well, well, well, well. There's some upsets in this bunch:

Division 7, Round 1:
Punk [Mega Man World 3]
vs. Elec Man [Mega Man] (4-3)
Sunstar [Mega Man World 5] vs.
Strike Man [Mega Man 10]
(7-0)
MegaMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]
vs. Roll [Mega Man] (4-3)
Rush [Mega Man 3]
vs. Gemini Man [Mega Man 3] (5-2)

I'm not gonna make any predictions on Round 2; quite frankly, all 4 are liked by most, and I've been wrong too many times before. :P

Division 7, Round 2 [voting ends at 11:59 PM on 12/26/15]:
Elec Man [Mega Man] vs. Sunstar [Mega Man World 5]
Roll [Mega Man] vs. Gemini Man [Mega Man 3]

Should be very interesting. CHAAAAAAAAARGE!

I feel like I sent Galaxy Man to the slaughterhouse.....geez.

Division 6 Final [voting ends at 11:59 PM on 12/24]:
Galaxy Man [Mega Man 9]
vs. Terra [Mega Man World 5] (9-0)

So, Terra will face Knight Man in the Grand Division. This means that we have 6 spots filled and only 2 to go. This next Division is gonna be something else, though, I think:

Division 7, Round 1 [voting ends at 11:59 Pm on 12/25/15]:
Punk [Mega Man World 3] vs. Elec Man [Mega Man]
Sunstar [Mega Man World 5] vs. Strike Man [Mega Man 10]
MegaMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] vs. Roll [Mega Man]
Rush [Mega Man 3] vs. Gemini Man [Mega Man 3]

Happy December 25th. Now, TO BATTLE!

We got ourselves a tie!

Division 6, Round 2:
Galaxy Man [Mega Man 9] vs. Saturn [Mega Man World 5] (5-5)
Terra [Mega Man World 5] vs.
Roll.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]
(8-2)

That means I have to vote, huh? Hmm. Well, I've never played either of the games that they've appeared in, so, I'm solely basing this choice on which one would be more interesting for Terra to go against:

Galaxy Man
Roll.exe

...which means...

Galaxy Man [Mega Man 9] vs.
Saturn [Mega Man World 5]
(6-5)
Terra [Mega Man World 5] vs.
Roll.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]
(8-3)

...and we now have our Division Final:

Division 6 Final [voting ends at 11:59 PM on 12/24]:
Galaxy Man [Mega Man 9] vs. Terra [Mega Man World 5]

....Enjoy. GO!

I guess, when you think about it, these 4 were too easy to predict, huh?

Division 6, Round 1:
Galaxy Man [Mega Man 9] vs.
Blizzard Man [Mega Man 6]
(5-1)
Saturn [Mega Man World 5] vs.
Gravity Man [Mega Man 5]
(4-2)
Terra [Mega Man World 5] vs.
Mercury [Mega Man World 5]
(5-1)
Heat Man [Mega Man 2]
vs. Roll.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] (5-1)

I think this'll be closer, though.

Division 6, Round 2 [voting ends at 11:59 PM, EST on 12/23]:
Galaxy Man [Mega Man 9] vs. Saturn [Mega Man World 5]
Terra [Mega Man World 5] vs. Roll.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]

Division 5 Final [voting closes at 11:59 PM on 12/21/15]:
Knight Man [Mega Man 6] vs.
Skull Man [Mega Man 4]
(6-2)

Now, uh, I wanna apologize about this next Division and the overabundance of characters originating from the same game in it, but, it wouldn't be random if I tinkered with it, you know?

Enter Division 6.

Division 6, Round 1 [voting ends at 11:59 PM, EST on 12/22/15]:
Galaxy Man [Mega Man 9] vs. Blizzard Man [Mega Man 6]
Saturn [Mega Man World 5] vs. Gravity Man [Mega Man 5]
Terra [Mega Man World 5] vs. Mercury [Mega Man World 5]
Heat Man [Mega Man 2] vs. Roll.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]

Skull Man [Mega Man 4] vs.
King [Mega Man And Bass]
(5-4)

Division 5, Round 1:
Uranus [Mega Man World 5]
vs. Knight Man [Mega Man 6] (7-2)
Zero [Mega Man X]
vs. Sigma [Mega Man X] (5-4)
Thomas Light [Mega Man]
vs. Skull Man [Mega Man 4] (5-4)
King [Mega Man And Bass] vs.

(9-0)

Huh. I expected it to be a tad closer, but, still....

Division 4 Final:
Mega Man [Mega Man] vs.
Bass.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]
(6-3)

So, it'll be Vile against Mega Man. That'll be good. 1/2way through the touney, now, and to be honest, I'm sorry I didn't cut the voting time sooner; We'd be closer to the Grand Division if I did. :P

Uranus [Mega Man World 5] vs. Knight Man [Mega Man 6]
Zero [Mega Man X] vs. Sigma [Mega Man X]

Division 4, Round 2:
Duo [Mega Man 8]

Bass.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] vs.

(5-4)

THIS should be a good Division Final. Winner advances to the Grand Division, where they'll have to take on Vile.

OK, I'm putting the kibosh on abstaining, right now. Doc's votes were counted, this time, but, a new rule has been added to the opening post saying that if you vote, you must vote in ALL currently running battles, or your vote won't count, PERIOD; I don't wanna have that happening--a tie could be happen because of a withdrawn vote, and then, it's up to me to break that tie, and controversy 'cause someone only voted in 3 battles. I don't wanna have THAT kind of controversy in this.

I got lucky 'cause it didn't matter, but, I don't want that situation happening, so, that's why I'm putting a halt on it, now.

Division 4, Round 1
Time Man [Mega Man: Powered Up]
vs. Duo [Mega Man 8] (6-3)
Ballade [Mega Man World 4]
vs. Mega Man [Mega Man] (6-2)
Bass.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] vs.
Chill Penguin [Mega Man X]
(6-3)
Auto [Mega Man 7] vs.
Ring Man [Mega Man 4]
(6-3)

That was a good Round 1, right? Let's see if Round 2 will be better.

Division 4, Round 2 [voting ends on 11:59 PM, EST on 12/17]:
Duo [Mega Man 8] vs. Mega Man [Mega Man]
Bass.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] vs. Auto [Mega Man 7]

Should be a good one. COMMENCE [something other than 'GO', for once]!

So, your Division 3 winner is an X series character who beat 2 Classic characters and a BN character before finally winning the 3rd Grand Division entry.

Division 3 Final:
Vile [Mega Man X] vs.
ProtoMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]
(6-2)

...but who will he face, there? Enter Division 4!

Division 4, Round 1
Time Man [Mega Man: Powered Up] vs. Duo [Mega Man 8]
Ballade [Mega Man World 4] vs. Mega Man [Mega Man]
Bass.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] vs. Chill Penguin [Mega Man X]
Auto [Mega Man 7] vs. Ring Man [Mega Man 4]
Remember: 24 hours per round, from here on out.

ReadyGO!

By the way, The Pastebin has some extra info for those of you that are worried about how the 24-hour cut in voting time will change things. vote totals that you see in triple parentheses are what the results would've been if that fight was only 24 hours.

Well, well, well, one battle was predictably lopsided, while the other was a complete and total upset.

Division 3, Round 2:
Vile [Mega Man X] vs.
Albert Wily [Mega Man]
(8-2)
Magic Man [Mega Man And Bass]
vs. ProtoMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] (6-4)

This should be an interesting final:

Division 3 Final [voting ends at 11:59 PM, EST on 12/15]:
Vile [Mega Man X] vs. ProtoMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]

3, 2.....oh, fudge it, just GO, already. :P

Not quite as much blowouts as Round 1 of Division 2, but, pretty close:

Division 3, Round 1:
Vile [Mega Man X] vs.
Metal Man [Mega Man 2]
(9-1)
Albert Wily [Mega Man] vs.
Tornado Man [Mega Man 9]
(7-3)
Magic Man [Mega Man And Bass] vs.
Star Man [Mega Man 5]
(9-1)
Axl [Mega Man X7]
vs. ProtoMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] (6-4)

2 interesting round 2 fights, though; Let's see how they play out.

Division 3, Round 2 [voting ends at 11:59 PM, EST on 12/13]:
Vile [Mega Man X] vs. Albert Wily [Mega Man]
Magic Man [Mega Man And Bass] vs. ProtoMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]

I'd like to keep it going, myself; I don't think the problem was 20 contenders, it's that there was a combined 200 points between them. Better to start every1 at 5 or 6 or 7, next time.

Also, there's the spontaneity of the -2 bombs. Can't they be -1 and be released in a set time pattern next time [like 'every 40 posts', for example]?

Oh, also, heal StupidStudiosN, hurt MegaboyX7.

Sorry for the long update. I overslept a bit. :P

Division 2 Final:
Napalm Man [MM5]
vs. Proto Man [MM3] (5-2)

This means that Pharaoh Man's opponent in his Round 1 Grand Division fight will be Proto Man. That's near the end of the tournament, though. We need 6 more before then. Enter Division 3.

Division 3, Round 1 [Voting ends at 11:59 PM, EST on 12/11]:
Vile [Mega Man X] vs. Metal Man [Mega Man 2]
Albert Wily [Mega Man] vs. Tornado Man [Mega Man 9]
Magic Man [Mega Man And Bass] vs. Star Man [Mega Man 5]
Axl [Mega Man X7] vs. ProtoMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]

Also, since all the votes for that fight took place in the 1st 24 hours again, STARTING WITH DIVISION 4 [12/16], ALL FIGHTS WILL BE 24 HOURS LONG. That'll give you all time to prepare for the quicker fights.

That aside, you still have until 11:59 tomorrow for THIS fight. 321GO!

I know I said that Round 2 wouldn't be closer--it was, technically.

Division 2, Round 2:
Napalm Man [Mega Man 5] vs.
ElecMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]
(7-2)
Proto Man [Mega Man 3] vs.
Mega Man X [Mega Man X]
(8-1)

We have our final. The winner faces off against Pharaoh Man in Round 1 of the Grand Division.

Division 2 Final [voting ends at 11:59 PM on 12/9]:
Napalm Man [Mega Man 5] vs. Proto Man [Mega Man 3]

Also, I noticed that all the votes for round 2 were made during the 1st 24 hours, which would suggest that I should lower the voting period, so, when you make your vote for this battle, also vote on whether or not all future voting periods should be lowered to either 24 or 36 hours, or if they should stay at 48 hours, pleaseandthankyou.

Napalm Man v. Magnet Man was close, but, the other 3 were the 3 most lopsided battles yet.

Napalm Man [Mega Man 5] vs.
Magnet Man [Mega Man 3]
(5-4)
Freeze Man [Mega Man 7]
vs. ElecMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network] (8-1)
Wind Man [Mega Man 6]
vs. Proto Man [Mega Man 3] (9-0)
Mega Man X [Mega Man X] vs.
Iris [Mega Man X4]
(9-0)

I get the feeling that the Round 2 battles won't be as close. You have until 11:59 PM, EST on 12/7:

Division 2, Round 2 [voting ends at 11:59 PM on 12/7]:

Proto Man [Mega Man 3] vs. Mega Man X [Mega Man X]

And the winner of this division [and the first entry into the Grand Division] is.....

Division 1 Finals:
Pharaoh Man [Mega Man 4] vs.
Pluto [Mega Man World 5]
(5-4)

Closest battle yet, but, Pharaoh Man goes on. The pastebin has been updated accordingly [scroll to the bottom], however, there's still 7 other open spots; Enter Division 2:

Division 2, Round 1 [Voting ends at 11:59 PM on 12/5]:
Napalm Man [Mega Man 5] vs. Magnet Man [Mega Man 3]
Freeze Man [Mega Man 7] vs. ElecMan.exe [MegaMan Battle Network]
Wind Man [Mega Man 6] vs. Proto Man [Mega Man 3]
Mega Man X [Mega Man X] vs. Iris [Mega Man X4]

Buster Rod G [Mega Man: The Wily Wars]

Let's meet the combatants and who they'll be fighting in each division, shall we?

Looks like a good tourney ahead. Remember, the winner of each of the 8 divisions will advance to the Grand Division, where the greatest MM character ever [at least, for now] will be decided on by you.

First, we'll get the 1st round of Division 1 out of the way. 4 of these 8 characters...

Blade Man [Mega Man 10] vs. Top Man [Mega Man 3]

Pharaoh Man [Mega Man 4] vs. Crash Man [Mega Man 2]

Buster Rod G [Mega Man: The Wily Wars] vs. MegaMan [MegaMan Star Force]

Pluto [Mega Man World 5] vs. Mega Man Volnutt [Mega Man Legends]

Will fall by the wayside; you all have 48 hours [11:59 PM, EST on 11/29] to vote for your FAVORITE character in each of the 4 faceoffs. Any ties will be decided by me. You can vote normally, or you can PM me your votes, just like with the Eliminator.

The 4 with the most votes face off in Round 2. GO!

This means that Magma Dragoon is the 6th eliminated, which just leaves the question as to who #7 will be, which is easy: it'll be who has the most votes of the 65 remaining characters, which is obviously Servbot.

So, officially, Magma Dragoon, Quint, Green Biker Dude, Hidden Phantom, Ring.exe, Sniper Joe and Servbot are out, leaving us with 64 characters. We have our tournament, now. Please stand by while I generate the bracket; I'll post as soon as possible when I have.

All right, that's it. I'm reviving this thing.

Spinstrike, unfortunately will not return my PM's. He did choose his 10 community Questions, but, unfortunately has still yet to answer MY 10, and, as a result, his interview must be put on hold unless and until he returns. It has been almost 3 months, after all, and the show must go on.

But, how will it go on? Well, that's easy. You all decide how it goes on! You all deserve a say in the matter after waiting so long. :P

Simply post in this thread before 11:59 PM, EST on 11/27 [even if I've already interviewed you], AND be in the Top 50 on the Leaderboard, and you'll have your chance to be the next 20 Questions subject as picked by the people of Prototype. =)

The other 39 characters didn't quite get enough nominations to be guaranteed entry, and so, 7 of them have to go, and you all get to decide who they are.

I've randomized all 39 characters into 3 groups of 13. When you post, you simply vote for the 3 characters you dislike MOST in each group. Simple as that. You can post why if you'd like, or not, if you don't. If you don't want your vote made public, I will accept private votes made via PM, as well.

Remember, ONLY 3 FROM EACH GROUP, please and thank you. The 3 characters in each group with the most votes will most likely be eliminated, and then the tournament will TRULY commence.

People post so much at the same time, that I recommend that we all just let Tails [or someone of Tails's choosing] run the list from here on. With multiple people posting at the same time, it's a nightmare trying to keep that list up.

I'm just gonna say, forget the list, and just Heal Meta and hurt Shuriken for this post. I'll leave the list to Tails. There. Neeeext.

@matthewftw123 : Can't fault you for that. Thanks for trying, anyway, though.

@TheDoc : Ah, HERE it is. I was wondering where this went. Since there's no actual RPing done in this thread, I figured it'd be best left in the General section. :P
It was a borderline thing, so I thought. Sorry. x)

@Tobyjoey : You know I'm gonna call it Bowl Man, right? xD
I do wonder how he throws bowling balls, though...
Actually, T.J., I'm calling it. If you'd be glad to sprite for me, I'd be glad to have to as a spriter. You're in. =)

===
JUST 'CAUSE T.J.'S IN, THAT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T NEED MORE.
Just in case Life decides to treat an accepted spriter like crap, I know I'll need more than one spriter, so, please keep your samples coming if you're interested. There's still no deadline, but, still, the sooner, the better.

@Tobyjoey : Were it not for directly facing the 4th wall, I'd say that this is as good as Swamp. One more? Please?

@DaCrashBomber : You made all 3 of those? They look pretty darn good, if I'm totally honest. Do you have any more?

@matthewftw123 : The whole point of the thread is for you to showcase your best works, Matthew, so, try to refrain from posting things you haven't finished, yet, pleaseandthankyou.

@Brimstone : Halberd is pretty impressive, actually. Not shabby at all. Post more if you have any.

Also--and I just edited this part into the opening post--I can't accept you if you wish to work alongside Adrian and Boss in the REAL Prototype, unless and until I have Adrian's DIRECT blessing for you to work with me on Armageddon. As I've stated in the opening post, it would be unfair to Adrian, Boss, and all of Prototype's fans for me to take valuable resources away from it for any reason.

Nothing personal, but, I can't do that to Adrian; he has a hard enough time with Prototype as it is without me taking things from it.

@MusicalKitty : ...not entirely sure that's in MM-classic style; his heads looking right at the 4th wall. :P
Try a smaller more, MM-Classic-based creation.

@Brimstone : "If we're all supposed to be using an 8-bit style here, then I'm pretty sure I may or may not have just went slightly out of it."

That. *points up*
8-bit MM-style is preferred, since Armageddon's visuals will be in said style, and I can more accurately judge the qualities of sprites that way.

No, seriously, I'm out. Those things are hyper broken POS's that take suck up everything that's still fun about pkmn and vomits 'em in your face; there's a reason more and more of them will become illegal in official Nintendo-sanctioned tournaments.

Also, it's still digivolving. x)

Digimon has their creatures going back and forth between forms, too. They called it digivolving.

I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now. It's digivolving; They just thought they were being clever calling it "Mega Evolution". -_-

@TheDoc : No, what I mean to say is that Speed is useless because of Ability Speeds, and that Defense is ALMOST made moot by Star Force. :P

You have them all, like I do, so, you already know this. :P

@TheDoc : You can't mention the attack stat without bringing up Star Force, my friend. Defense currently means diddly in the face of 1,024 Star Force, and it'll only mean too MUCH later on, if the new system applies when 576 additional MM5 Star Force are thrown into the mix.

@MusicalKitty : Speed IS nearly useless. When a robot from my army--where there's not a single stat that breaks 4,000--can beat 9,999'ed out bots with ease in the current Prototype, Speed doesn't matter in the slightest. Speed only matters in VERY special situations, and even then, said situations only really impact the above-average player in Player Battles.

Let there be Shadows.

Now, unfortunately, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, due to circumstances beyond my control [namely watching my 8yo niece], the next one may take juuuuust a little while longer to post, especially since I just got through celebrating her b-day on May 15, and my sister hasn't made me babysit her since then.

In short, I'll be a while.....or *will* I?

...any questions?

@Retro Pikachu : I can't believe I'm saying this, but, I'm actually considering going for this.

I gotta know some things though:

1. What happens in the rare event of a draw?
2. If this becomes a Round Robin, What happens if there's a tie for first place?
3. Are Legendaries allowed [Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Mew, Entei, Raikou, Suicune, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Celebi, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Latios, Latias, Deoxys, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Jirachi, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Dialga, Palkia, Heatran, Regigigas, Giratina, Cresselia, Shaymin, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai and Arceus are what I consider Legendaries from the 1st 4 Gens]?
4. Are all our pkmn supposed to be Lv. 100 [I know that official world tournaments have caps of Lv. 50]?
and 5. Is anyone allowed to digivolve their pkmn?

Get back to me when you can; this'll help me decide whether I want to enter.

How come Mega Water S doesn't have 200 Health, by the way? He has 56 HP when you fight him, officially, no?

Please note that I know the answers are short, that's why I've added 2 new rules to the opening post: "Also, if I choose you as a subject, assume that "I don't know"s are NOT acceptable answers, and that the person asking wants to know WHY you chose that answer."

That said, next subject is ThatOneEnderMan, a guy with a Minecraft-based name who happens to be pro at a Mega Man RPG. Ask him what you want, just don't stare at him, or, he'll warp to where you are and knock off 1/3 your health by touching you. :P

@Tobyjoey : To your response to Subject 3: With the Held Items mechanic, everyone pretty much becomes a Copy-type bot all at the same time, and DIVERSITY is what's needed, here.

To your response to Subject 4: Nono, I said nothing about them SHARING Items, only that Items, Abilities and Fields are SPLIT between them--That is, Auto has ~1/3 of them, Reggae has another ~1/3, and Kalinka has the last ~1/3, so that none of them become useless quicker than the other 2.

Also, you said that, "It doesn't prevent excessive item usage for younger players or collectathon-mentalities for more experienced players", ...and that's the problem, T.J.: It's too easy and predictable that way. Find a hard battle? Farm money, buy a bunch of Extra Lives and Yashichis, and then, spam the heck out of them. Battle won. Remember, there's currently no plans to cost you a turn for using an Item, so buying 99 Extra Lives and/or Yashichis for a battle is basically a guaranteed win. That'd be ridiculous.
Also, to try to make a battle OUT of spamming Extra Lives and Yashichis would be more of a chore than any form of fun, and fighting even the most powerfully awesome optional Boss in any game can be both very difficult AND very fun, at the same time, so why not make it so without still treating people like they're kiddies still learning how the game works, you know?

So, I did some counting and stuff.

Currently.....

Jupiter is... Electric/Wind
Mars is... Flame/Missile [Should be Explode/Missile, as he doesn't actually have any Flame moves; almost every move he has results in explosions, not flames. :P]
Mercury is... Freeze/Crystal [Should be either Copy/Shadow, Copy/Water or Shadow/Water, as he's made of liquid metal (Water) and can steal the HP (Shadow) and abilities (Copy) of others]
Neptune is... Earth/Water [Should be Impact/Water, as he has no Earth moves, and uses his weight, more than the earth; Guts Man isn't an Earth-Type, right?]
Pluto is... Impact/Swift [Should be Missile/Swift, as he does have homing missiles. Plus 3 of the Droids are already Impact-type.]
Saturn is... Shadow/Impact [Should be Shadow/Time, as he can freeze time, and he has a ring which doubles as a freaking BLACK HOLE (doesn't get much more Shadowy than that].]
Sunstar is... Flame/Time [Should be Flame/Explode, as he has no time freezing moves; everything he has concerns either flames or blowing things up.]
Terra is... Electric/Laser
Uranus is... Earth/Impact
Venus is... Explode/Water

Types currently represented by the Droids:
Copy: 0
Crystal: 1 [Mercury]
Cutter: 0
Earth: 2 [Neptune, Uranus]
Electric: 2 [Jupiter, Terra]
Explode: 1 [Venus]
Flame: 2 [Mars, Sunstar]
Freeze: 1 [Mercury]
Impact: 3 [Pluto, Saturn, Uranus]
Laser: 1 [Terra]
Missile: 1 [Mars]
Nature: 0
Neutral: 0
Shadow: 1 [Saturn]
Shield: 0
Space: 0
Swift: 1 [Pluto]
Time: 1 [Sunstar]
Water: 2 [Neptune, Venus]
Wind: 1 [Jupiter]

Good news!

It turns out that some of Xat's games actually WORK!

...you have to be in a Private Chat with the person you want to play with, is all.

I can confirm that Connect 4 works almost flawlessly; played 7 games last night with Shadownnico [beat him 3-0] and Phoenix Wright [beat him 3-1].

Chess and Pool work, too, but, not quite as flawlessly.

Game on. Maybe we can have tournament-like stuff later on in the future, once I confirm more working games.

EDIT [3 hrs, 15 min later]: False alarm. Connect 4 is the only game that fully functions. Pool and and Chess work, but, they're broken as heck; Pool doesn't recognize who sank which balls, and Chess doesn't even recognize whose turn it is; you can even move nay piece anywhere to capture an enemy piece at will--even the King.

So, yeah, only Connect 4 works. Sorry. Special thanks to MetaKirbster, Phoenix Wright and ThatOneEnderman for helping me to confirm this.

In all seriousness, though, I challenge your ideas not to be an annoying _________, but, because someone has to. This game should turn out as well as it possibly can with as few errors and overkilling features as possible; You, good sir, deserve that, without needing to find out later that you have a lot ***MORE*** things to fix, you know?

You keep churning out the ideas, and I'll keep making sure they don't work [or do work if my math says so. I promise]. :P

That said, Adrian sometimes relays things/information/questions to ask the rest of us/possible future features to Boss [what with Boss being the #2 guy on the site], but Boss can't tell us anything if no one shows up. We need *AT LEAST* 4 people to have an actual MEETING, here, folks. We need you. Please.

We meet up in the Xat at around 5:30-ish [Eastern] before the actual meeting at 6:00 [or 6:30 if not enough people are in by 6:00]. Please join us? Pretty please?

@The Zion : In my opinion, there are 2 top-notch ways to show that you are a good enough spriter for the Prototype:

The first--and in my opinion, the better of the two--is to create a thread in the General section showcasing some of your more impressive works. If you can wow the regular members enough that they post positively and often enough, you'll likely get the attention of the Community staffers [the most active ones are MegaBossMan, Spinstrike and Rhythm_BCA, currently], and if you get THEIR attention, and they like your works, they'll be sure to try to get your creations seen by Adrian Marceau, the programmer and creator of Prototype, and if HE likes your work, BOOM! You're most likely in.

If you're shy, though, you can go to the profile of any of the 3 above staffers and PM [Private Message] them links to your stuff. This is slightly less reliable than the first way, though, as all 3 of them--ESPECIALLY Rhythm--are busy, BUSY fellows.

In either case, make sure you show ONLY your BEST NES-style MM sprites. The BEST. If you show up with disappointing sprites, prepare to receive disappointing judgments.

Good luck.

@MerryBossMan, Adrian Marceau and ThatOneFrostMan : This only makes things worse.

50.5% of 375,000 damage [189,375] is even WORSE than 1% of 750,000 damage [7,500]. Nothing's balanced, nothing's even, and in the case of the indestructible Dark Spires, nothing's unbroken--you have so many different variables; as Field Support, Field Multipliers, Robot Weaknesses, Resistances and Immunities, Ability accuracies, Critical Hits, the fact that obtainable Neutral attacks HAVE no multiplier [or Star Force] support, and are therefore always weak, the list goes on and on.

There's so many ways to go around a Dark Spire to attack a group of enemies and/or a boss that it's not even funny, and 49.5% defense against even 15,000 damage [which is obtainable even WITHOUT Star Force if you know what you're doing] STILL kills any playable robot currently in Prototype.

If the Star Force are gonna be in Prototype, can the Star Force just be placeholders [Items that do nothing], at least for the time being until you 'figure out another way to make them unbroken'? The game's already broken enough as it is, what with us being able to OHKO 9999'ed out bots, along with the massive breaking of stats, the insane EXP boosts [making 9999 exp per battle even easier to achieve].

Also, again, there's nothing Adrian can do to Coreforce [besides the obvious thing] that *doesn't* make it either too useless or too broken: if it blocks 49.5%, it's much too low, if it's 99%, it's still not enough, and if it's 99*.99*%, it'd be too much.

No part of this 'trinity' keeps the other 2 in check enough to be anything other than extremely broken or extremely useless.

@Shadownnico : If I'd have pointed that out, Adrian would've assumed that I'm taking a stab at his mathematical skills.

Actually, I pointed this out in the Legacy Chat meeting where he introduced Core Force, too.

@TheGrinch and King DeDeDe : I know who makes the game; It says on the bottom of every page on the site who made the game. I've suggested things for almost all of the 3.5 months I've been a part of this site, and yet, Adrian seems to take every 2nd thing I disagree with and/or correct him on outside of a Legacy Chat as disrespect. I only try to address what wrong with Prototype and give the most sensible, constructive and simplest solutions possible; Adrian is, after all, ONE guy doing all the programming by himself, so, it shouldn't be a crime to try to save the man some extra work.

It's not like I speak gibberish or make non-sensical arguments and points. It's a FACT that the game and Player Battles will be broken if Star Force is kept the way it is [and even MORE broken if Dark Spires are input into them]. It's a FACT that the game is currently hardest at the MM1 bots. It's a FACT that Level 100 won't cut it with over 130 confirmed opponents leveling up at least once for every storyline win the player attains. It's a FACT that there are better ways to unbreak the game than to add more things. These aren't opinions.

I don't call anyone derogatory names, I don't downgrade Adrian's programming skills, I don't curse, either. There aren't even any rules posted that AREN'T just unspoken, and I don't break those, either. If I'm supposed to believe Adrian's claim that I'm being aggressive, that's something else we're not gonna agree on. I believe I've already proven that can make very logical arguments without even coming close to breaking a single rule, so, I'm not disrespecting anyone. Never have. ADRIAN's rules say so.

Showing my work as to why I disagree with an idea--instead of just, you know, saying I don't like it--does not constitute breaking a rule.

@Adrian Marceau : Then, why are Copy and Neutral Stars sellable in Kalinka's shop?

See, you can't blame anyone for making an incorrect assumption when already released information is then deemed incorrect itself via new decisions you make. You end up with glaring inconsistensies, like that, and you even end up getting things wrong, yourself, such as what Shadow just mentioned, as well as the fact that there are *103* planned RM's, once you add the 10 PCR numbers into it. And yes, that 1 missing robot accounts for ~100 Stars, so it makes a difference in the Star Force count, which will STILL be in the neighborhood of 9,300-10,000. STILL impossible to put a lid on with the combinations of those and Critical Hits and Robot Weaknesses and Field Multipliers, even WITH both Coreforce AND this Dark Spires mechanic in place: 1% of 750,000 damage still slaughters any currently playable robot in the Prototype.

I don't disagree with ideas like this Dark Spires thing just to be......some word I can't say on this site. I show my work as to why I don't without breaking any posted or UNposted rule, even, so, I'm sorry, but, I don't see where I'm being aggressive and disrespecting you.

@Adrian Marceau : This was precisely what I meant when I said that, "If you're not careful, you'll end up having a mechanic regulating a 2nd mechanic meant for balancing out a 3rd mechanic meant for normalizing a 4th mechanic, etc, and STILL not achieve the desired result [and have yourself even MORE broken game mechanics as a result]" in my response to you in my Ideas #5 thread.

You've created a unneeded game mechanic to moderate 2 other unneeded game mechanics. Dark Spires will be absolutely useless during the storyline, as Star Force--from what you, yourself has told me previously in the Xat--is only available after you beat the mandatory storyline. If that's still the case, these Dark Spires will only matter AFTER we Prototypers beat the outer space robots to begin with; You'll have a bunch of storyline Boss battles with big, dark crystals in them that happen to be completely and utterly useless, and not influence the battle in any way.

Of course, you can remedy this by including Star Force in the storyline, too, but, as you just said, "Field Stars grant a +10% attack boost to dealt elemental damage of the same type. Fusion Stars work in much the same way, but contain the power of two different Field Stars in one. When collected by the player, their combined Star Force can boost the elemental effectiveness of a given type by over 9000%!"

It's actually more like than 12,000+ or 13,000+% for some types [Cutter, for example] after all 10,000+ planned Star Force stars are input into the game, but, I digress: My point is that, judging by that explanation, you don't plan on changing Star Force **at all**, so, including Star Force in the mandatory storyline will only make regular storyline battles even EASIER than they already are.

If you're trying to make memorably challenging boss fights using this Dark Spires system, it's only going to make the game insanely simple. Not to mention that it's more coding and programming for you, what with inputting a formula that's just as unneeded as both the insanely overpowerful Star Force AND the insanely useless Core Force. Even if the 3 ARE somehow properly and evenly moderated, it's impossible to KEEP it that way, with over 10,000 planned Star Force stars, now. It's only a matter of time before this idea becomes just as moot as Core Force is.

@IceTailsMK4 : Some people already don't wanna see my ideas, and that's OK; That's a reaction that I'm willing to put up with to challenge the broken systems that exist, and to see about offputting future broken systems by coming up with more solid ones. Someone has to have the gravitas to try to help the Prototype by point out a weak system when they see it BEFORE it's already implemented; might as well be me.

First, you've also made a mistake: Additional intro stages have been confirmed, and there's no promise that they'll all be Lv. 1, nor is there no promise that Adrian DOESN'T have plans to make players face Trill or other Bosses more than once. There's also no publically known TRUE storyline in place, yet, beside the Doctors and their robots mysteriously ending up in the Prototype to start with; The story hasn't STARTED, let alone finished. That matters not, though, as Adrian has confirmed in a previous Legacy Chat that he plans to work on the story last, so, enemy bot Levels matter even now, in this early stage of development.

Second, I mentioned the 'EVs' in my response to Boss's response to my Idea #8. I'm aware of the stats increasing after Lv. 100, but, the problem is that without ADDITIONAL coding and programming by Adrian--which can be completely avoided by simply raising the Level cap, by the by--Giving EV's to storyline enemies will be pretty difficult, if not impossible. I know this because some VERY good programming was likely needed to give Lance his 3 hacked Dragonites [2 are Lv. 48, 1 is Lv. 50, and Dragonair doesn't evolve into Dragonite until AT LEAST Lv. 55] in Pokemon Soul Silver. Why not save him the trouble of extra coding when he can, hmm?

Third, Adrian can change Star Force all he wants; It's going to be broken in some way, shape, form, fashion, sense, matter, magnitude or dimension, always and forever. There's over 10,000 of them planned for the game now. OVER 10,000. Adrian CAN'T keep it perfectly moderated with well over 10,000 of them to keep track of. Period. Not even the greatest programmer on Earth could maintain an even likably moderated Star Force, in my opinion. I'm trying to help Adrian realize this sooner than later; Star Force will ALWAYS be out of control.

Finally, your 3 points for moderating Star Force are all moot, because, as I said, Coreguard either doesn't block enough damage or will block TOO MUCH damage [i.e. 1 damage per turn], even 49.5% element defense can't save anyone from the combined power of Max Attack Stats AND Field Multipliers AND 10,000+ Star Force AND Robot Weaknesses AND Critical Hits.
Instead of Adrian making more and more work for himself, I'm simply saying that he can make things SO much easier on himself in the long run by just nixing the incredibly broken animal that is Star Force, altogether. It's an original element, yes, but, so are Program Advances in the BN series, and those are just as galactically broken; Just saying. Prototype would be a much better Prototype without it, and who doesn't want a better Prototype, hmm?

Oh, and please make some idea threads of your own. I'd LOVE that. xD

@MerryBossMan : @ your response to #'s 4 and 5: Unpredictability is already why we have this thing called Ability accuracies. You've noticed the percentages attached to every Ability. That's it's base accuracy percentage before Speed is calculated, so, believe me, there's already an unpredictability factor in place LONG before Critical Hits are part of the equation: Will you hit or will you miss? This is a strategy game anyway, so randomosity doesn't need to be taking place more than absolutely necessary. Critical Hits are NOT necessary. You have all 3 Paper Mario games, Boss: Play a full front-to-back run on one of them if you still think that Critical Hits and 'randomosity' is important in making a memorably good RPG experience.
By the way, I've been shafted by Criticals too much in both the Pokemon series AND this game to ever see any 'good' side of Criticals. The game shouldn't get to decide how much damage something does. It'd help more if you remove Criticals anyway, since, chances are, they'll happen more TO you than FOR you, no matter WHAT percentages Adrian programmed them for.
As for the Speed stat as we currently know it, it's almost completely redundant, as I stated in 12/14's Legacy Chat. Why? Because even though it determines accuracy, there's already a system in place determining accuracy, and it's attached to every offensive ability in the game. Speed [as I also said in the same Legacy Chat] should be determining who attacks first, not some "Attack Speed" stat that makes all stats in general look completely useless. Again, my army should not be crushing Tails's in ANY battle, but they do, and almost easily, at that. Surely YOU can see that's ridiculous.
................right?

@ your response to #6: My remedy for offensive Abilities that deal damage in percentages was to give them static base attack numbers like every other well-regulated and well-moderated attack in the game. My remedy for offensive Abilities which increase/decrease stats by a percentage is to program some of my Status ideas in their stead, so that they increase stats by the same percentage regardless of how much damage it does, or how much Star Force is beefing it up.
If you have any better ideas........

@ your response to #7: You think that just because no one has told you that they have qualms about Star Force making the game too easy, that they AUTOMATICALLY don't have a problem with it? Stop pretending that you're *that* closed-minded; you aren't. :P
You know who ELSE broke the game? You. And pretty much everyone who has at least 1/2 the Stars. I've already explained during the 12/14 Leagacy Chat about how Coreguard will change nothing except make things more broken; if you have a lot of Cores, the storyline is easy as crap, even vs. Bosses. If you have a lot of Starforce AND Cores, the damage from the Starforce will make the Cores look like scrap.
Even if 99 Cores negated 99% of 750,000 damage, that's still 7,500 damage. -99% of 500,000 damage? 5,000. With the help of the Star Force AND Field Multipliers AND Robot Weaknesses AND Abilities that boost stats up to 99,999, come the MM5 update, base damage will reach levels like that, making Coreguard look ridiculous. Just to remind you, with EVERYONE's base HP at 100, you'll never see HP over 4,462 on a playable robot, save for the 3 lady bots.
There's nothing Corguard can do to fix this without being broken in some OTHER way. 99% is about as close to unbroken as it can make things. The lower it gets from that, the more useless it literally becomes. The higher it gets from that, the closer you get to making ALL attacks do 1 damage. This is why Coreguard is scrap. And also why the Star Force needs to go, it's literally breaking the game more and more the further into development the game goes.
As for your Support-Type idea, while it SOUNDS clever, you forget something; a 21st Type wouldn't be needed if ALL Star Force was gone.

@ your response to #8: There's ALREADY 'EVs': KO an enemy Robot and the Robot who dealt the blow will gain a little bit more Attack, Defense and Speed than [s]he normally would.
As for the bridge, we're already getting very close to it, by the by, what with more intro stages, more bots, at least 1 confirmed incoming Boss and 8 brand new robots to face in the MM5 update. Contrary to your response, Lv. 50 HAS been broken: Cossack's 'Final Destination III' bots are at Lv. 55, and it's EXTREMELY likely the MM5 update will push it to Lv. 60, Lv. 65 or even more; Do you REALLY think that the update that has Lv. 100 storyline bots is that far off?

So, there. I tried to find an agreeable point in there, but, it's likely buried under ideas that either cram more broken mechanics into the game or are just plain wrong, especially when you do all the proper research and math.

@MerryBossMan : Oh, dear, oh, dear, oh, dear. How is it that I see things you still can't?

@ your response to #1: BAAAAAAAAAD comparison. Wood Man's Base Attack is 132 on his stage with an attack that needs 2 turns to launch. THAT, plus the face that nearly 1/2 of Wood's Base stats in centered on Defense, are the reasons why Wood Man sucks. Cut Man's base attack is 214 on his stage with an attack that can hit 3x, and his stats, for the most part, are well-rounded, making him the MUCH more lethal opponent.
Fire Man and Gemini Man is another bad one. Fire Man has 266 base attack on his stage. Gemini Man only 182 base attack on his, and mind you, you don't face Gemini Man in a storyline scenario, yet. Pretty lopsided.
Elec Man is VERY OP [both FOR you and especially AGAINST you] once you put Thunder Beam into it. Don't make me get into that again. That also has to do with both Idea #6 AND stats.
You're missing the point. It's not that the MM1 bots themselves are OP [most are actually UNDERpowered]. It's that they're OP on THEIR Field, and you must FIGHT them on THEIR Fields. Why are the MM1 bots OP on their fields? Their stats. You face them first, an their stats are too lopsided for being the first major enemies you fight. Plain and simple. Especially Bomb Man and Elec Man. There's not a playable robot in the entire GAME with as much attack power as they have. Not yet, anyway.
Stats are not only *A* problem, they're *THE* problem. I shouldn't have to consult a BBS or a guide for the FIRST CHAPTER IN THE GAME, you know? This isn't a sequel. This isn't an X/BN/Zero game, either. Heck, even MMX1 isn't so complicated that you need an instruction manual [or a BBS].
This is.

@ your response to #2: The Nitron family would like a word with you.
Jokes to the side, if we put a stop in the normalcy and sameness, NOW, it'll save Adrian a bunch of trouble later. Again, barring that, Tier 3 moves should just be slightly more useful than your normal Tier 1 and Tier 2 moves, and they should really be unique. I mean, TRULY unique. Make Gyro Man fly. Make Drill Man dig underground. Make Hard Man do his patented [not really] 12-damage headbutt. Make Quick Man use his supposedly awesome [not really] agility to give him my Evade status [ups chance of avoiding all Abilities to 30%.] for 2 or 3 Turns.

@ your response to #3: They're not ALL supposed to be freebies. I just got finished talking about how, at some point, the game has to stop treating you like a beginner. NOTHING should still have a base stat total as low as 200 when you're 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 chapters into it. Just no. RPG's--good ones, anyway--don't have enemies that wimpy that late on, and Prototype shouldn't, either. All the current v1 Mechas, regardless of Level, are easy to crush for when you meet them. But, it CAN'T stay that way for EVERY v1 Mecha in the game.
In fact, The stats for current v1 Mechas are so low, that the only chance they have of attacking first comes when you factor Attack Speed into it. That's ridiculous. The base stat totals of Mechas must also start increasing at some point as you advance later on in the game, especially if you want to create a more enjoyable experience. As I've been saying, easy does NOT automatically = enjoyable, and the game shouldn't be treating you like a beginn.....you know.

@Adrian Marceau : Well, heck, Adrian, it's you, so, of course I have to not be rude and answer back. xD

@ your response to #1: When's the last time you played the game from the start? As I've stated in previous Legacy Chat meetings, Bomb Man and Elec Man have a base Attack stat of 282 on their fields, and that's not considering the doubled base attack stats of their Abilities. That 282 is higher than any other available Robot Master boosted by the field multipliers on a non-Fusion Field. This is LONG before any Star Force is even a factor in the game. Yet more proof that the MM1 robots are hardest, which, again, is completely backwards.
Stats are a MUCH bigger problem than you think, friend.

@ your response to 2: Another broken idea you have there, especially with 8 robots on my team. You can endlessly use 'Giga Attacks' this way, forever. When my 1st robot drains all it's WE by using one, I just switch to the 2nd. The 1st now regains WE at twice the rate, and I get another Giga Attack to use. Instantly. Rinse and Repeat. Do you know what that would do to Player Battles?
Things are already too broken as it is, remember? Giga attacks aren't needed. UNIQUE attacks are what's needed. For some Tier 3 ability ideas, try the Dive Torpedo [Dive Man's Slide sprite] or the Guts Quake [when Guts jumps straight up] or the Needle Headbutt [Needle Man's headbutt sprite] or the Gemini Twins [Gives Gemini my Speedster Status, allowing him to attack twice for the following 2 or 3 turns]. Come talk to me if you want more ideas. You know how to PM me [it's your site; you better know how xD ].

@ your response to #3: So, MM10 Mechas will have 200 base stats, too? All right. You'll see what I mean when they just become EXP magnets, allowing players to dispatch of the later RM's and Bosses like scrap [dem overkill exp bonuses, man].

@ your response to #4: Removing stuff is not conceding defeat, nor is it a sign of weakness: Who are you racing against to build this? :P
I hate that most of your remedies is to make the game more complicated by overthinking and adding broken and easily exploited game mechanics. :P
In all seriousness, though, nothing more should be left to chance than absolutely necessary. Critical hits ruin the 'strategy' part of the whole game, randomly spotting off double damage when the game wants isn't strategy. And again, I keep finding that this is a problem much more near the beginning of the game, where the MM1 robots are already un-beginner-friendly as it is.
Oh, by the way, Pokémon attacks--most of them, anyway--does not deal absolute damage totals. Sometimes you can actually get 'critical hit!' prompts when it only does what seems like 1.6x or 1.7x damage, and yes, 3x damage is VERY much possible.

@ your response to #5: As I told Tails once, the fact that my robots --where there's not a stat that even touches 3,100, let alone 9,999--can dispatch of robots in Tails' army like scrap is ridiculous. If I choose my attacks against his teams correctly, I can make all those 9,999's look completely and utterly meaningless, and get billions of BP in the process. You don't find that ridiculous? Even a little bit?

@ your response to #'s 6 and 7: I don't mean to be rude, but, No neutral Stars is a complete contradiction to what you say in your response to #7, my friend. Roll, Disco and Rhythm [and possibly Rush, Treble and Beat] will STAY weak compared to all the others? Forever? This is why I suggested #7 to start with; if you're going to omit one type of Star Force, you should omit them ALL--your response to #6 just revealed [likely accidently] that Neutral-type robots are going to be the weakest type of robot in the whole game, forever. I thought you DIDN'T want to 'piss people off'? :P
It's funny how your remedies are to add MORE things and plop MORE work on yourself instead of saving yourself the agony and the time and simply UNdoing what's obvious. If you're not careful, you'll end up having a mechanic regulating a 2nd mechanic meant for balancing out a 3rd mechanic meant for normalizing a 4th mechanic, etc, and STILL not achieve the desired result [and have yourself even MORE broken game mechanics as a result]. So, we now know that you couldn't care less about who you anger, so, again, what's the problem with making the game UNbroken and removing them all? :P

@ your response to #8: Lv. 100 is not an accomplishment when you can get there in 10 battles [LESS than 10 if you're Bass, Disco, Proto Man and Rhythm, since they start at Lv.'s 11, 11, 21 and 21, respectively]. It's also not an accomplishment when every robot you pick up is already AT Lv. 100, as the later obtainable bots will be. You are, again, overthinking this with some new game mechanic that'll break your game even more, my friend. Again, the cap doesn't have to be Lv. 200 or Lv. 250, but, it CAN'T stay at Lv. 100. Not if you want any semblance of challenge in the latest stages of the storyline.

@MerryBossMan : Actually, it might be better if they seemed not monotone and machine-like, and not as if they have personalities like your run of the mill RM, but, a personality in between. After all, they will be either mini-bosses, or just plain out and out bosses [either way, unobtainable].

I have an idea in mind: Cold and calculating, a la DarkMan.exe from MMBN3. Observe:

Dark Man 1:
Start: Target acquired. Preparing to attack enemy.
Taunt: Enemy is slow; in more ways than one. Preparing endgame.
Victory: Enemy dispatched. Acquiring next target...
Defeat: ...tanked again. Retreating.....

Dark Man 2:
Start: Enemy spotted. Preparing defensive barriers.
Taunt: Target's offenses are laughably low. Preparing to terminate.
Victory: Target neutralized. Scanning next target...
Defeat: ...shielded from victory. Retreating.....

Dark Man 3:
Start: Target in sight. Ready to fire.
Taunt: Enemy is a wimp...and a *weak* wimp, at that. Launching final assault.
Victory: Enemy destroyed. Seeking next target...
Defeat: ...taking contact. Retreating.....

Dark Man 4:
Start: Enemy in range. Initiating complete destruction.
Taunt: ...preparing to end the pathetic and miserable existence of enemy.
Victory: Enemy finished. Readying next enemy for destruction.
Defeat: Enemy...refuses...to be destroyed. Retreating.....

and, seeing as I suggested a Dark Man 5 as an optional Superboss in a previous Legacy Chat:

Dark Man 5:
Start: Prey has appeared. Commencing annihilation.
Taunt: Preparing to put prey out of their misery...
Victory: ...prey was just like all the others. Seeking next victim.
Defeat: ...the prey is...the hunter...? Retreating.....

There's personalities there, but, they're strictly business, focused on their goal, like DarkMan.exe was. Get me?

Stats matter, yes, but, Stars matter more. MUCH more. As I told you that night [12/2], you must get more Stars. 20 isn't gonna you too far up the first page of the leaderboard.

@TheDoc : The problem with Shadow Man, though, is that he doesn't do enough damage to be anything more than annoying in the difficulty department. Touching him or his Shadow Blades only does 4 damage, if I recall correctly, and his slide only does 6, I think. If it weren't for the fact that bustering him only does 1 damage to him instead of 2, he'd just be another Fire Man [if you meet Fire at full health, and keep rapid-firing the Buster as quickly as you can, you'll almost always kill him before he kills you].

The only possible ways that Shadow Man can kill you is by your having a bad reaction time, or by jumping left when you should've jumped right [or vice versa].

Charge Man, in my experience, is a better Shadow Man than Shadow Man is, seeing as how he's much taller, a little faster and very much more efficient at giving contact damage.

.....which brings me back to the point of the thread: what's there to like about Shadow Man besides him being a ninja, again? x)

I suppose I should've clarified that I hate the little jumping jack. There's way better and tougher RM's that I feel as though make Shadow Man look stupid: Ice Man, Elec Man, Charge Man, Slash Man, Search Man, Clown Man and Grenade Man just for starters [and if you don't think that Elec Man is tough, beat him with just the buster. Harder than it sounds, I promise you.]

I especially hate Shadow Man's stage theme, as I feel that it's almost as overrated as Snake Man's theme, which is almost as overrated as the MM2 Wily Castle 1 theme.

Whenever I ask someone why they like Shadow Man, tough, I get the same stock answer; "'cause he's a ninja". No one ever names any other reasons, at least, not to me. :P

Also, Doc, you should try fighting Spark Mandrill with just uncharged Buster Shots. I've still yet to beat him this way. :P

"Magna Centipede is awesome"?

No, Mega Man X is awesome. Spark Mandrill is awesome. Toxic Seahorse is awesome. Shadow Devil is awesome.

Besides him barely resembling a ninja, it'll have to be logically explained to me as to how someone as wimpy to fight as Magna Centipede [or Shadow Man, for that matter] can be awesome.

.....I mean, Overdrive Ostrich is harder to buster than Magna Centipede.

Now, click on my name, and go to my profile. Look under the "Community Forum Stats" on it. Notice a difference?

Pretty positive that thae FORUM'S tally is correct, and not my Profile's; I haven't been here that long [only 2 months] to log in that many topics. The differences are even wider with VERY active Forum posters such as Adrian, Boss, Tails, Shadow, Account, MetaKirb, etc. [i.e., fellas who've been here posting on the forums for way longer than I have. :P]

"Rock It" theme, "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back", PS1

Technically, it's the theme of the only 2 levels in the game where you use a jetpack to make your way through a danger-ridden space station.

But, IMO, it sounds like the theme of an extremely weird mad genius at work, which is my personality in a nutshell, really; I'm as different as different can be [look at what I have you listening to, for crying out loud], I'm pretty blasted bright, and, well, look at the Ideas topics and all the Prototype ideas--be they good or bad--that I've come up with.

@Retro Gengar and uraccountcarved : I completely forgot to update this matter, actually. I understand your attitudes, fellows, but, it should be known that Adrian himself finally showed up in the Xat last night, and a MASSIVELY HELPFUL discussion between he, MegaBossMan and myself took place.

It turns out that, once I explained that my trying to reach him quietly and through the recommended channels about his ideas of open chats always ended up being massive failures [he'd either ignore the message completely, or read a message only to ignore entire fifths and fourths of it], Adrian could actually completely understand my frustrations...to a point.

Every problem that ended up occurring with Chat rules required me to contact him directly, because he was so extremely slow to reach. HE also admitted, funnily enough, that he didn't exactly handle the CHAOS situation as well as he could've.

By the same token, both he and MegaBossMan made it clear that I came off about it preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty bad. Pretty STUPID, actually. Even though I technically broke no site rules during my frustration, the way I showed it was still uncalled for, and after a lengthy discussion, all 3 of us decided that *I* could've ALSO handled the situation better, too.

Adrian and I have already hugged it out and thrown massive apologies at each other [and took it like men]. He's also planning to give MegaBossMan the moderation tools he truly needs to be the head honcho in charge while Adrian's away from here on, He's made Boss and I admins of Prototype's FB account so that we can use *IT* to attract more newbies [so that Adrian doesn't have to publicize the chats, YET], Adrian himself has promised to try to be in the Xat a little more often, and I had to promise that, for the time being at least, I just have to step back, stop worrying so much and hope for that extra security measures WON'T be needed for the Legacy and Xat chats in the future.

Sorry for being so slow with this fellas. Oh, and Account? Again, totally understand where you come from, but, language, pleaseandthankyou...kids and stuff. Censor the whole word, if you must say things like that. :P

@Adrian Marceau : No, I DON'T understand. At some point, Adrian, simply popping in and removing well-meaning, well-thought-out and well-working rules with absolutely no viable explanation and then popping right back out stops making sense. We're way past that now.

The whole reason for me creating the Xat to begin with is because it's possible to have better safeguards in place than in the Legacy Chat; Along with the sound, there's also clear identification between who's a Chat Guest [green], who's a Chat Member [blue], who's a Chat Moderator [white] and who's a Chat Administrator [orange]. It also rembers the ranks of all those who become a member of it, too. There's also the features, such as the sound setting, the YT player and the doodles.

That said, there WILL be those that are out to be [sarcasm]geniuses[/sarcasm] and start trouble for no reason, what with your trolls and your bots and your hackers and just bad, rotten apples in general. If I end up making rules that allow Chat staffers to easily identify who is a Prototype Member and who is not, It is for the protection of the chat. It doesn't matter who likes it and who doesn't; would you rather have a couple of annoying rules regarding chat names, or do you wanna try to figure out whether every new user is really a Prototype member or just someone who starts trouble?

You, Adrian, are also too busy with the Prototype and with life in general to be on the Xat [or on the Legacy, for that matter] anywhere near often enough to truly understand how to keep the peace on a reasonable and well-meaning basis on a chat as busy as the Xat [or on a site as busy as Prototype, really], anyhow. If I'm supposed to accept completely insane rule changes like this, the very LEAST you can do is explain why. I don't wrack my brain trying to keep these chats safe for my health.

=============

@Evil Man : Thanks for bringing this to my attention. That would fall under the category of "Mike has to go do something about that since he created the chat".

As of this post, though, Adrian hasn't publicized the Xat and Legacy Chats for guests, yet [thankfully], and besides, it's not exactly the safest route to go. I've been--AGAIN--figuring out some kind of verification and/or security measure to separate the Guests from the Members; regardless of Adrian's intent, purpose, meaning or vision, not ALL Guests will be good apples.
This matter has been resolved.-MBM

I announced this on the chat a few hours ago, but, with Halloween fast approaching, the halloweeny theme that Boss came up with concerning our names may or may not stop. This combined with MegaBossMan's forced removal of the original Rule #1 and Rule #2 mean that some kind of new ID measure will have to be in place.

Starting on 11/1/14, There'll be a new rule taking effect. Please read it.

Also, small, but, important additions have been made to Rule #'s 1 and 5. Read those, too. Thanks.

I just thought I'd show off this pic of Boss's from back when he tested the Atomic Fire/Fire Storm bug.

It only hurt a tiny bit. (gulp!)

The game can handle counting 9-digit overkills, so, 6-digit HP's won't be much of a problem, I think. :P

@Scarwy tobyjoey :

@ your response to #1: What would you suggest, then?

@ your response to #2: Maybe so, but, leaving it at 1,000 exp. per level up makes leveling up way too EASY.

@ your response to #3: The only bosses with 6-digit HP's would likely be--like the planned omniboss--permanently unobtainable, yes.

@ your response to #4: Because if all 100+ unlockable RM's max stat totals are 400, that's not true diversity. Some RM's having 400 and some having 470 and some having 420 and some having 450 and some having 500 and some having 410 and some having 430 is pretty dern diverse. :P

@ your response to #5: Hehe. What with Field Multipliers, it'd help with Energy, too.

@ your response to #6: As I said, these abilities encourage laziness. As I also told Tails, if you become strong, it should be by skills and experience, and not because you used glitches. Plus, they can exploit unobtainables and make them look like kiddies. That's not supposed to happen with what's supposed to be the toughest foes in the game.

@ your response to #7: And it 100% agrees with you. :P

@TailsDollMK4 :

@ your response to #1: I came up with Level 250 to make it harder to max out and for it to stand out amongst other RPG's, really. Nearly every RPG seems to max at Lv. 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 or 60 or 99 or 100, nowadays. x)

@ your response for #2: 201,000 exp. to level up from 200 to 201, to be precise, and if you figure in the exp. you'd get from Bonus Field 2 for beating Level 100 RM's, for example, you'd have WELL over 2,000 exp. per RM. 4,000+ if you KO them with their weakness. That adds to almost 50 battles to get from Lv. 200 to Lv. 201, and you can say that that's too much, but, honestly, consider the 1,024 Star Force Stars that Prototype currently has. Getting all of those require grinding, doesn't it?

@ your response for #3: These limits are to accommodate for the likely massive stats that unobtainables will have. The ultimate foe has to have the HP total to match, and 9,999 isn't gonna cut it; too easy.
Oh, and by the way, The low limit is 59,400 HP at Lv. 100 [or 134,250 HP at Lv. 250] if the HP stat is 9,999, so, actually, 262,143 as the absolute maximum would suffice.
Yeah, I know all about the 0, 1, 3, 7, 15, 31, 63, 127, 255, 511, 1,023, 2,047, 4,095 programming thing. :P

@ your response for #4: As I've said to Spooky, difference in power and defense and health matter when there's well over 100 planned unlockables. If every unlockable has the same 400 stats, it'll boring and easy, regardless of what Level they are. There HAS to be a statistical difference between them besides just giving all 100+ unlockables the same max stat totals. That's not diverse at all.
Also, I didn't completely suggest an icrease in stat totals solely on when each RM was made. I also suggested so because there's supposed to be a noticeable--but reasonable--incline in challenge when you get later and later into the game, and doing so by just leveling them up until they hit Lv. 100 or Lv. 250 or whatever the max level is isn't challenging enough.

@ your response for #5: Static bonuses of +10 to each stat of each robot of the Star's type[s] is a more tamer bonus, yes, but, it does prevent massive overkilling of other expert players, such as how your teams keep killing mine. xD

@ your response to #6: Not MY omniboss, by the by. Join the Legacy chats more often and you'd know that. :P
The planned omniboss in not the only planned permanent unobtainable in the Prototype. The fact is that these abilities can be used to make bosses who are supposed to be very challenging powerhouses look like complete wimps, and no immunity to a type is going to fix that, because there's 19 OTHER types of robots that can use the same 9 abilities. Shouldn't an optional boss--one that you DON'T have to take on, but, should be very hard TO take on--force the player to use their skills and not cheap glitches (the official descriptions for the Shuffle and Swap abilities LITERALLY call all 8 of them 'glitches')?

@ your response to 7: Uhh, actually, Adrian stated in the end-of-year update topic that you'll still be able to ncrease your stats to 9,999 with broken abilities such as the aforementioned Atomic Fire, Fire Storm, Leaf Shield, Thunder Beam and Super Arm. Mind you, Look the the Bugs section for the Atomic Fire/Fire Storm bug that I found and Boss posted. That bug will likely still exist, come the end-of-year-update, and that's another reason that the absolute stat limits need to be increased.

@RaynorX : Exactly my point, Raynor. The Prototype has too many things that people can exploit in the later stages.

====================

@MegaBonesMan :
@ your response to 1: As it stands, everything in the endgame will be at or close to Lv. 100; MM9 bots, maybe MM10's, too. The game's difficulty will pretty much halt at that point, save for unobtainables. What kind of Level caps would YOU have in mind?

@ your response to 2: Ah, ah, ah. I didn't say that Prototype borrows anything from anyone. I said that having a Level cap beyond 100 will separate it from run-of-the-mill RPGs that cap at Lv. 100, LIKE that one with 800+ creatures in it. You also have to explain to me how this idea is the opposite of #1, as #1 deals with an extending of a Level cap and #2 deals with the EXTREMELY BROKEN exp. system.

@ your response to #3: Again, you must explain how. #3 is an idea of extending the stat caps to accommodate unobtainables' likely extremely high stats, and #7 deals with the extreme brokenness of the increasing of stats well beyond the advertised values [or in Super Arm's and Leaf Shield's cases, the extreme brokenness of the advertised value, itself].

@ your response to #4: By the time you face Sheep Man, though, your robots will be at, like, Level 50, at the very least, and seeing as how games are supposed to be HARDER as you go through them, it would make sense for RM's total base stat values to increase, to reflect an increase in challenge. RM's with total base stats of 500 [like MM10's would be if it were up to me] at Lv. 60+ or 70+ would be a worthy challenge, seeing as how you've defeated *at least* 66 other RMs to that point, and gained *****loads***** of experience for them.

@ your response to #5: Thanks. I figure that +5,000% for flame attacks would be way too broken, though, you know? :P

@ your response to #6: Oh, stop being lazy and level up like everyone else. :P
Scrapping these 9 abilities would make that a necessity, and not a choice. You shouldn't be handed a DECISION of whether or not to be stronger, it should ***BE*** a necessity, especially in a game that's as long as this is planned to be, and with enemies as strong as the planned unobtainables will be.

@ your response to #7: See my response to your response to #3.

====================

@Sp00kynnico : While that idea SOUNDS good in theory, there would be one potentially major problem with it: too balanced.

While I completely understand the need to try to have a game with unlockables that are as balanced as possible, the problem with this is that the game will NOT have balanced unobtainables. there will NOT be balanced optional bosses, and there will DEFINITELY not be a balanced omniboss. Some unlockables NEED to be faster than others, and some others NEED to be more defensive than others and some others NEED too have more HP than others in order to create true diversity and difference between the unlockables, especially as there's planned to be, what...about 80 unlockables? 90? 100, maybe? Possibly more?

====================

@MetaWereSter : ...and 1, 3 and 7 agree with you agreeing with them. :P

So, here's a SITE idea from me, for once:

When I first came here, I was wondering if there was a list of MMRPG staff so that I knew who NOT to **** off during my time here. Retro pointed out to me that...well...

...just look at post #135 in this topic.

So, obviously Spinstrike was a mod....or so I thought.

The Energy Capsule symbol actually refers to someone who's contributed to MMRPG [I've helped find a more casual and friendlier Chat, AND found a game-breaking Ice Breath bug AND found a Fire Storm/Atomic Fire bug AND I suggest ideas up the wazoo; where's MY energy capsule?].

May I suggest an additional symbol? an E-tank symbol to show who and who ISN'T a Moderator.

Score Balls should ONLY EVER be dropped by Mechas, to prevent MAHOOSSIVE overscoring.

Over the multiple times I've played MM1 over the last 11 or so years, I've noticed that there are only red, blue, yellow and green score balls [I seem to encounter them in this order, seeing as I almost always go in serial number order].

Their BP values should be added onto the end-of-battle BP bonus if they are victorious. And ONLY static values:

Red = +1,000 BP Reward Bonus
Blue = +10,000 BP Reward Bonus
Yellow = +100,000 BP Reward Bonus
Green = +1,000,000 BP Reward Bonus

Reds should have a chance of being dropped by all Mechas with combined stats of 200 or lower.
Blues should have a chance of being dropped by all Mechas with combined stats of 201-300.
Yellows should have a chance of being dropped by all Mechas with combined stats of 301-499.
Greens should have a chance of being dropped by all Mechas with combined stats of 500 and higher.

After the end of battle BP bonus has been added [+####%], all dropped score balls should then be added to the final total.

Why static values? Because Final Destination III is high enough as it is. Over 28,000,000 BP is possible for OHKOing Cossack's version of it, and if you add 80% to that, it comes out to over 50,000,000. That's too much for simply fighting a group of Level 55's with no Star Force boosts.

My full first name is, predictably, Michael, and the 76500 comes from both me being a lover of numbers and math, and from 7, 6 and 5 being my favorite numbers, in that order.

So, why the 0's? I tried to create my first email address about 12 years ago using the name Michael765, but, that was taken. Me being the stubborn kid I was back then, instead of trying Michael766, like the site tried to suggest, I instead tried Michael7650, but, that was taken, too. Then I tried Michael76500; Also taken.

So, I decided, since people called me Mikey a lot back then, to use Mikey as my name instead of Michael. I presumed that Mikey765 and Mikey7650 were taken, so, I just skipped straight to Mikey76500.

The rest, as they say, is history.

First you have to Scan a MM3 Robot Master so that Kalinka can unlock it's Field in her shop. You can then buy the Field from her for 48,000 Zennies.

Once you've bought a Field from her, use your Player Editor [under the Players Menu] To change one of the Dr.'s 8 Fields to the MM3 Field you just bought. This will allow that Field to be chosen.

You thn just select that Field in Chapter 2 [or Chapter 4 at a significantly higher level] of that Dr.'s Story. Remember, to unlock them, you must make sure that ONLY Neutral-type attacks touch them.

Well, let's see some simple math, here.

If there's was someone with a Maxed-out Mega Man [BossMan],

Attack: 9,999 [old limit] - 4,462 [new limit] = 5,537 overage
Defense: 9,999 [old limit] - 4,462 [new limit] = 5,537 overage
Speed: 9,999 [old limit] - 4,462 [new limit] = 5,537 overage

5,537 x 3 = 16,611 total overage.

16,611 x 100z/100 BP would be 1,661,100z/1,661,100 BP.

That sounds about right. Make it 100 BP, though; you have guys like the Big 3 [BossMan, Tails and Rhythm] that have many maxed-out robots, and they have enough Zennies [and BP, really] as it is.

The last Joe guarded thin air. :P

The Dark Men technically were bosses, yes, but, as they don't have Serial Numbers.....

Also, If Smash isn't a good enough example, try the earlier King Of Fighters games, back when SNK used years in it's titles ['94-2003]. Rugal, Goenitz, Orochi, Krizalid, Zero, Igniz, Adel or Mukai were never unlockable bosses in their original arcade versions [and in some home versions, as well; I don't recall Mukai EVER being legitimately playable, actually].

@Acting Mod Reisrat : There's a bigger problem than that; almost no actual attention is pointed towards it. There's a topic, yeah, but, that's nothing compared to the front page saying, 'we even have a chat where you can talk to other MMRPG Players!'.

The chat, as it stands now, is buried under the community submenu in the menu at the top of every page. It'd help if it wasn't buried there, either.

@MegaBossMan : They could be on whatever field you want them to be on; there were minibosses in the actual Classic series, why shouldn't there be any in this potentially awesome game?

In fact, you could try putting them in a Bonus Field III of sorts and see how it works out, there.

@Acting Mod Reisrat : Bad example, Reisrat. There were only 3 Sniper Joes in all MM1, and only 1 of them directly guarded a boss door.

And there's plenty of miniboss potential in the post-game. Like with how I just suggested a Bonus Field III. It doesn't have to be one of those mahoossively ginormous ones, either.

This, this, this, this and the Dark Men from MM5 are perfectly good examples of possible minibosses; the 4 formers are big, but stationary, making them less troublesome for Adrian [and whoever else might help him program; not saying that there is, only that there *might* be] to program, and the Dark Men are the size of your garden variety RM. If given the right stat imbalances, all of them have the potential to be either mini-bosses full-on bosses by themselves or--and I can't believe I'm giving you guys this idea to go crazy with--optional SUPERbosses.

Every Mecha doesn't have to be obtainable or summon-able, either. Just like how most fighting games don't ever allow the final boss [i.e. Master Hand; Melee was a mistake] to be unlocked because of how imbalanced it [usually] is.

There can be a Mecha for every RM, but, not EVERY Mecha should have a supporting RM, and not EVERY enemy should be obtainable. That would make players more OP than anything, seeing as how 9,999 Attack, Defense and Speed is already on the table for every RM.

It was just me, CHAOS, Rhythm, Tobyjoey and Shadow mainly talking about what's *literally* up [satellites, space stations, airplanes, clouds, etc.], followed by a discussion with the 5 of us about the possible personalities of Bass and how he might or might not feel about Disco, what with him being as power-hungry as he is. Then, Rhythm told me about his Comic, which I read the first 60 installments of before I realized that I was still in the chat, and that it was now more dead than the inside of a morgue.

That chat stinks, and a better one is needed ASAP.

@MegaBossMan : Acknowledged. Just don't go putting 3 recolors of the same type in it. That's predictable and boring, seeing as how there's so many of them to choose from. Recommend that there be 4 or 5 [or 6 or 7] different Sniper Joes in it. After all, Crystal-type [Crystal Joe, MM5], Shadow-type [Skeleton Joe, MM4] and Swift-type [Machine Gun Joe, MM9] enemies need more entries to balance the game out some more.

In fact, the whole '3 different recolors' thing would be good for some enemies, but, it's just bad for most; Adrian could simply replace them with better, more creative enemies, really.

@Acting Mod Reisrat : I don't mean to sound infantile, but.....so what? Why does every Mecha *have* to correspond to a RM?

Mettaurs don't correspond to an RM [Well, technically, the MM1 Mettaurs in the Prototype correspond to Guts Man, but, you know what I mean]. Not all enemies should correspond to an RM, either. Some Mechas--if used in this game--have the potential to be a bad mamma-jamma all by themselves. Not every Mecha should be linked to an RM, anyway, as the fact that MM and Roll and Bass and Disco and Proto and Rhythm can only summon Mets just plain out and out sucks.

Even if you think it doesn't, again, why does every Mecha *have* to correspond to an RM?

And, by the way, Mega Man 8? Robot Masters that talk, have a personality, are a genuine challenge, and--no offense, Adrian--are in graphics better than 8-bit. 'nuff said.

@Dark Man : You have to first find a Shadow Man and Scan it. He's most likely to appear in any post game battle taking place on Skull Man's Field.

Scan him there, and Shadow Man's Field--Septic System--will then be available in Kalinka's shop for 48,000 Zennies. Buy it.

Then, under the 'Players' menu, Choose a Doctor, change one of his 8 Fields to Septic System. Go to that Dr.'s Chapter 2 [or Chapter 4 if you want a challenge]. He should be available to fight. Make sure that only Neutral-type attacks touch him, and he should become yours.

I normally don't necropost, so, forgive me, but, I figured that unlocking the 3 lady bots needed clarifying, as I just figured out why I haven't been able to unlock Rhythm until now [9/15/14].

CONFIRMED:

To unlock Roll, you must lose on a ***MEGA MAN 1-originated Field*** to a ***MEGA MAN 1*** Robot Master using any team combination of Mega Man and/or ***MEGA MAN 1*** Robot Masters ONLY. The loss doesn't count if there were any non-Mega Man 1 Robot masters in the battle.

To unlock Disco, you must lose at least once on TWO different ***MEGA MAN 2-originated Fields*** using any team combination of Bass and/or ***MEGA MAN 2** Robot Masters ONLY. Each loss must be against ***MEGA MAN 2*** Robot Masters ONLY. Losses don't count if there were any non-Mega Man 2 Robot Masters in the battle.

To unlock Rhythm, you must lose at least once on THREE different ***MEGA MAN 4-originated Fields*** using any team combination of Proto Man and/or ***MEGA MAN 4** Robot Masters ONLY. Each loss must be against ***MEGA MAN 4*** Robot Masters ONLY. Losses don't count if there were any non-Mega Man 4 Robot Masters in the battle.

Forgive all the caps and asterisks, but, that's REALLY important to keep in mind if you're trying to unlock these 3 post-story, like I was with Rhythm.

And the Doc Stages aren't NEARLY as annoying as the Docs, themselves. I've always told people that if they wanted to bring back the MM2 RM's, they should've just brought them back instead of squeezing them all into the same stupid, tall-***, nearly-impossible-to-jump-over, cheese-infested fool.

And before anyone complains of evert robot having the same HP in every game [28 for MM's 1-7 and 9-10, 40 in MM8], need I remind you of the arcade games? Bosses could have anything up to 128 HP in that one [yes, I counted, because I'm a dork :P ].

Sounds like a Fusion Star Battle on Orb City [Bomb Man's Field] to me. There's any number of ways that a Crash Bomb--not prematurely detonated--could kill off any RM there, as the Field Multiplier for Explode-type is doubled, and Bomb Man is made stronger by the Fusion Star itself until you win the battle and collect it for yourself.

While Crash Bomb is technically a %age based move, it can still be powered up via Field multipliers; The Bomb Man was Lv 39; if the field had a x2 bonus for Explode-type, AND there a Fusion Star on the field with Explode-type as part of it, AND The Crash Bomb detonated on time, AND there was a critical hit, that would do it.

By the way, that goes for every Field and Fusion Star you don't have; If it's on the field, your enemies get stronger via it, so, never let down your guard; unless you have insanely high defense [saaaay, 800-ish], you still wanna keep strategies in mind, including Plan B's for when things like this happen.

Pretty sure it's not a bug, though.

@TheDoc : Holy cheese and crackers, *I'M* not alone! I just find it extremely weird that Bright Man, for instance, is ONLY Time-type, when there's CLEARLY electricity involved.

Thinking about your idea, and the attacks that the RM's use throughout the first 8 Classic games [Never played 9 and 10, yet], here's what I believe each of the 68 RM's in the original original series should be.

Proto Man - Copy/Shield
Mega Man - Copy
Roll - Neutral
Cut Man - Cutter
Guts Man - Impact
Ice Man - Ice
Bomb Man - Explode/Swift
Fire Man - Fire
Elec Man - Electric
Time Man - Time
Oil Man - Earth

Metal Man - Metal
Air Man - Wind
Bubble Man - Bubble
Quick Man - Swift/Cutter
Crash Man - Explode
Flash Man - Time
Heat Man - Fire/Impact
Wood Man - Nature/Shield

Needle Man - Missile
Magnet Man - Electric/Missile
Gemini Man - Crystal/Laser
Hard Man - Impact
Top Man - Impact/Cutter
Snake Man - Nature
Spark Man - Electric
Shadow Man - Shadow

Bright Man - Electric/Time
Toad Man - Water
Drill Man - Earth/Explode
Pharaoh Man - Flame
Dust Man - Wind
Ring Man - Space/Cutter
Dive Man - Water/Missile
Skull Man - Shadow/Shield

Gravity Man - Space
Napalm Man - Fire/Explode
Stone Man - Earth
Star Man - Space/Shield
Gyro Man - Wind/Cutter
Wave Man - Water/Impact
Charge Man - Fire/Impact
Crystal Man - Crystal/Laser

Blizzard Man - Freeze/Impact
Centaur Man - Swift/Time
Flame Man - Flame
Plant Man - Nature/Shield
Knight Man - Shield
Tomahawk Man - Nature/Cutter
Wind Man - Wind
Yamato Man - Cutter

Bass - Copy
Freeze Man - Freeze/Crystal
Junk Man - Earth/Shield
Burst Man - Water/Explode
Cloud Man - Electric/Wind
Slash Man - Nature/Cutter
Shade Man - Shadow/Laser
Turbo Man - Flame/Swift
Spring Man - Impact/Explode

Tengu Man - Air/Cutter
Frost Man - Freeze/Impact
Grenade Man - Explode/Swift
Clown Man - Electric/Shadow
Astro Man - Space/Impact
Sword Man - Cutter/Flame
Search Man - Explode/Nature
Aqua Man - Water

Chances are this won't happen, but, still, Level 250 Cap would be a great Plan B.

So, I just had a bunch of my robots hit Level 100 [or Level 100* according to the in-battle status ticker.

I naturally think, "Oh. Great. Now, they can't get any stronger" only to find out that I'm wrong, and that they CAN grow stronger.

This, folks, SOUNDS great on paper, and likely looks great, too, but, there's a hugantic glaring issue with it; It makes every Robot virtually the same. Evert Robot has an absolute maximum HP of 595 [Save for Roll and likely, Disco and Rhythm; don't have them, yet.], an absolute maximum Attack of 9,999, an absolute maximum Defense of 9,999, and an absolute maximum Speed of 9,999. None are TRULY different, stats wise, from the others, save for their elements, Weaknesses, Resistances, Affinities and Immunities.

You could make the argument that diversity already exists between the Robots if I'd just look at the Database. I have. Many times. None of them mention the fact that every single Robot has the EXACT. SAME. ABSOLUTE. MAXIMUM [9,999] for all non-HP stats.

There HAS to be an absolute maximum Level if there will truly be true diversity. If there will truly be robots with superior Speed over others and Superior Attack over others, then, each Robot Master's Level cap should limit. You could give items or Zenny instead of Experience.

As for what I believe the Maximum Level should be, I think Level 250 would be excellent. Level 99/100 caps are for REGULAR RPGs, this is better than that. x)

@TheDoc : Ah, but, Volt DOES ram you when his HP is low. You know how he jumps in the middle of the room and makes the sparks literally fly?

He unexpectedly charges at you when he finishes, then he jumps back in the middle and does it all over again. Rinse and repeat until either you or he dies.

It's unexpected, and it's pretty fast too. VERY difficult to avoid without getting hit either by it or a stray spark.

@Acting Mod Reisrat : You didn't know that you can Dash Jump off of walls [Including X1, once you get Dash Upgrade from Chill's stage]?

@DrElwan : The navigator says absolutely nothing about the boss being easier or harder, though; regardless of what weather condition a level is, the only real way to tell if you just eff'ed up and chose the wrong one--so far as I know of--is by playing the stage.

@tobyjoey : Using a Robot Master's weakness [or even a regular enemy's weakness, for that matter], you'll gain more experience from that fight, but, using any kind of attack besides Neutral-type attacks on an RM will kill any chance of you unlocking that RM.

I don't mind this so much; The game basically demonstrates that you can also be rewarded for UNDERkilling just as much as OVERkilling.

@DrElwan : Nonono, it simply tells you what weather it actually is. A sunny day usually does mean easiness, But, Sol Titanion and Heat Gemblem will use their EX skills against you in the heat. Ugh.

@Acting Mod Reisrat : 'huge' also means hard to [dash] jump over. almost impossible without a wall being involved, actually. :P

@MetaKirbSter : Oh? Do break your rating down, pleaseandthankyou.

@MegaBossMan : Thank you? I think? x)

@TheDoc : TWO chapters, sir. Any Chapter 2 for Field Stars, and any Chapter 4 for Fusion Stars.

@Anti : As I stated to Chaos, my only problem with grinding is that it should come later. if you have to grind close to the start when you're clearly playing at optimal proficiency, chances are, the creators made it that way, either on purpose or by accident.

Again, not beginner-friendly.

@Acting Mod Reisrat : Ah, but Blizzard is huge and sizable, And can freeze you, and can shake you off of walls, and has some semblance of aim with his ice crystals, and can get ahold of you and crash you into a wall.

Neon is arguably the most predictable boss in the entire X series. He just endlessly jumps from one corner to another while occasionally shooting easily dodged bolts with almost no aim whatsoever, and he occasionally does a straight-line tackle when his HP is low. Easily U-buster'd [Uncharged buster'd]

What Zero 4 *didn't* tell you is that, for a couple of the 8 bosses, The sun can be just as bad as the rain and the snow. Heat Genblem [the turtle-like one] immediately comes to mind.

Pardon the double post.

@CHAOS_FANTAZY: "If that's somehow still not enough, replay an old level for Ye Olde RPG EXP Grind. I know, I know, it's unfortunate that they have to exist, but it's an inevitable part of nearly every RPG that we've all come to accept. And to be frank, if a little XP grinding completely ruined your opinion of MMRPG, I dare to call that shallow. Also, decentralize your character levels! "B-BUT CHAOS—!" Butt me no buts. One Level 50 character is way more dangerous than 5 Level 10 characters, simply by the design of the game's machinations."

OK, here's where you and I are NOT going to see eye-to-eye, sir. My problem with grinding in RPG's is that it exists, it's that ***it shouldn't be needed so close to the beginning of a game***. An RPG should be as beginner-friendly [note that I said 'beginner-friendly', and not 'easy'; there IS a difference] as reasonably possible before any kind of steep difficulty curve shows up, so that the beginner can get to grips and know how to tackle that curve without wanting to say 'eff you' to the game and give up. Grinding should be going on LATER, when true challenges are supposed to start to present themselves, but, that's me and my 2 dollars and 50 cents, figuratively speaking.

@CHAOS_FANTAZY: "Overall, is the beginning of MMRPG easy? No. Is that a bad thing? Heck no. Thinking tactically and applying general RPG conventions, the first chapter of the game is easily solved, if it is a bit challenging. And if you're a Mega Man fan, you know what is reasonable challenge and what is not. Or I would hope you know.

That is all."

Of course it's not a bad thing. Just because a game's hard, doesn't automatically make it bad. I *promise* you that I get that. However, this game gets TOO hard TOO fast for a game with no walkthrough tutorial like most RPG's have.

@DrElwan: X1, X2 and X4 are actually pretty beginner-friendly-ish. X3 is harder, but, still viable, and X5 has both Easy, Medium and Hard ['Xtreme'] difficulty settings *and* a TRAINING mode, for goodness' sakes. Those aren't as hard as one may think, seeing as how there's always at least one clear-cut loser in the group. In X1, It's Chill Penguin. X2? Crystal Snail. X3? Neon Tiger. X4? Web Spider. X5? Grizzly Slash/Crescent Grizzly.

You're right on all counts with the Zero series, though, the difficulty curve in Zero 1 alone is insanely steep, never mind the 3 games that come after it, which are each even harder than the last. I've never even beaten Zero 4, yet.

The curve here is as strong as the curve in Zero 4, though; just as I had no idea that the weather played parts in how easy or hard a stage and it's boss would be, I also had no idea thatsome of the the more mandatory features could be accessed until you took a good long look at the Menus, which only pop up on the Level Selection screen, by the way, so, they're easier to miss than you may think.

@CHAOS_FANTAZY : "Alright, alright, time for me to get off my horse and see you on even ground."

Thank you.

@CHAOS_FANTAZY : "I've seen you going on and on for about three days now, and I still don't get how you had any trouble with the beginning of the game. And don't you dare discredit my following statements just because "it's been a while"—-my memory is sharper than a foil; the only thing that has changed since I played is Bomb-Man's Danger Bomb getting a hilarious buff (Which I still say is dumb and Adrian needs to change)."

Roger that. if you're seeing me on even ground; you rightfully deserve the same. Also, Danger Bomb can miss the opponent, though, so, it's more a desperation gamble than anythi--Ah, you're right, it's a stupid move, all around.

@CHAOS_FANTAZY : "So you start the game, you predictably lose your first battle and get Roll, so then you have 2 people and 8 Robots to take down. So what do you do? Why, you start where every other Mega Man player starts, my friend: with Cut-Man. Since Light Buster increases Defense every time you charge it, you can take the edge off of his attacks (And every other "attack-power-heavy" weapon in the game—seriously, the percentage weapons like Crash Bomb and Rain Flush are way worse), and since you gave it to Roll as well, you smart cookie, you can easily defeat Cut-Man in a Xover-esque slapfight without even trying."

Ah. It's not **quite** as common-sensical as it sounds *now*, when we have millions of BP and more experience. Again, I wanted to legitimately beat it by myself without ruining the challenge of simply scouring the board and reading all the helpful hints that you good people have posted. Where's the challenge and fun in that, right? You could make the viable argument that this is my fault for being stubborn as crap, but, I wanted to legitimately beat these guys on my own. Nothing wrong with that.

On my honor, though, that's ***not*** what I did when I got Roll. Seeing as how Cut can hit you 3 times per turn if you're as unlucky as I am [go see the game-breaking Ice Man bug I posted in the Bug Reports thread if you think I'm just whining about luck], I DIDN'T try him again immediately, but, rather, I went on to Guts Man, and then Ice Man, and then Bomb Man, and then Fire Man, and then Elec Man, and then Time Man, and finally Oil Man before again returning to Cut Man and NARROWLY beating him, even WITH a couple of Energy Pellets and Roll's help. See, you can't ignore the x2 damage multiplier that each boss has from fighting on their Field; that doesn't make things any better for the absolute beginner that doesn't know the ins and outs of this game, yet.

Also, the game, itself, as I mentioned, doesn't have a walkthrough tutorial that tells you that you can change your offensive repertoire for each robot before and after battles as often as you like. On my honor, I never actually knew this until I saw the in-game menu bar and until I finally got around to looking at Auto's Shop, ***then***, I came across the Robots option [which--then and ONLY then--pops up a box that tells you about being able to change your robots' offensive repertoire] and the Database option [which had a box tell me that I could Scan enemies in Battle for their strengths, weaknesses, affinities and immunities].

So, yeah, unless you went to the Forum for help and/or you're the type that goes to the Options Menu before ever playing a game, you'd probably figure all of that out easily. The rest of us....not so quickly. Another viable 'my fault' argument could be made here, but, jumping straight into the game is not as uncommon as you may think.

@CHAOS_FANTAZY : "Boom. Done. You just killed Cut using only Neutral-type weaponry; that means he joins the team and adds Rolling Cutter to your arsenal. You know how it goes from here. Once you have a weapon, this game becomes so easy it's scarcely even funny. Hitting an enemy with their weakness (Which you'll always know, thanks to Scan) puts a multiplier on the Experience Points you receive, deals double damage as well, and can one-shot a mecha even more consistently than a charged Buster shot (Though I'd still charge the buster first just so I have that stat boost). And if you'd rather have more Robots on your team than have bonus EXP...just slap Light Buster on that Robot you just got and keep running (Though do pick off the Mecha with weapons for the bonus EXP since they don't count)! If not through skill and tactics, you can easily overwhelm the first chapter with sheer numbers."

Again, the game, itself makes no mention of HOW you get them on your side, only THAT you CAN get them on your side. I was looking at the level descriptions in Light Chapter 4 before the game finally told me HOW to do this; no joke.

Here's a good question: I just recently beat Final Destination II in Light Chapter 5, and I think I found a bit of an oops.

Mega Man S, Proto Man S and Bass S all can be scanned. They all have HP, Attack, Defense and Speed stats, they're all a different element to their true-blue counterparts, they all have 4 elemental weaknesses each, they also all have 4 elemental resistances each, they have different home fields from their counterparts, and they even have different quotes from their counter parts.

With this, I'm forced to come to the conclusion that these 3 entities are completely different from their counterparts in every way, shape, form, fashion, sense, magnitude and dimension.

So, why can't I find them in neither the in-game database, nor the website database?

Also, there's no dual-element RM's, yet? Huh. Noted. Also, I realze that Mr. Marceau can't beat himself in a battle, so, "Create THIS!" should been omitted. x)

Girl Power!: Win a 3-on-8 battle with only Roll, Disco and Rhythm on your team.

No offense to whoever suggestied achievements where you have to do something 1,000,000,000,000,000 times, but, that's not so much an achievement as the game telling beginners to--pardon my Chinese-go **** themselves. :P

Achievements are supposed to be challenging, yet enjoyable to try and do, for instance:

Musical Harmony: Win an 6-on-8 battle with ONLY Mega Man [Rock], Roll, Bass, Disco, Proto Man [Blues] and Rhythm on your team.
Diversity: Win an 8-on-8 battle where 8 different elemental types are represented on your team.
OHKO: Win a battle in 1 Turn.
Marathon: In any location besides Cossack Castle, win a battle in no fewer than 28 Turns.

Millionaire: Accumulate 1,000,000 BP.
Multi-millionaire: Accumulate 10,000,000 BP.
MEGA-millionaire: Accumulate 100,000,000 BP.
Billionaire: Accumulate 1,000,000,000 BP.
Multi-billionaire: accumulate 5,000,000,000 BP.
MEGA-billionaire: accumulate 10,000,000,000 BP.

Contender: Win a PvP battle vs. an opponent that has accumulated at least 1,000,000 BP.
Worthy Opponent: Win a PvP battle vs. an opponent that has accumulated at least 10,000,000 BP.
Giant-Killer: Win a PvP battle vs. an opponent that has accumulated at least 100,000,000 BP.
Master of Disaster: Win a PvP battle vs. an opponent that has accumulated at least 1,000,000,000 BP.
True Legend: Win a PvP battle vs. an opponent that has accumulated at least 10,000,000,000 BP.

Moderate THIS!: Defeat an MMRPG Forum Moderator in a PvP battle.
Develop THIS!: Defeat an MMRPG Developer in a PvP battle.
Create THIS!: Defeat MMRPG Creator Adrian Marceau in a PvP battle.

I'll think up some more, later.

@Acting Mod Reisrat : BN5 would've been great if it weren't for those blasted 3-Turn time limits on the Liberation Missions. That kills all the fun in the whole game for me, really, especially as Lib Missions are the main course in BN5.

@MegaBossMan : "I've played the game from the start multiple times after each update, and I think you're just having terrible luck."

Exactly, Boss. While I do agree that maybe luck could play a secondary part in the completion of an RPG, it should NOT be the main course; luck isn't a viable substitute for skill sets and actual strategy, you know?

@TailsMK4 : You seem to be under the impression that this game is easy for *beginners*, Tails.

20 elemental types to keep track of, elemental bonuses for each boss, making them unneededly tough [yes, even Oil Man, what with his high Speed], chance critical hits and chance negative statuses plaguing the beginner through Light Chapters 1 and 2, and a lack of zenny in the game overall, save from selling items and screws [both of which are also chance rewards, by the by] makes this game extremely dependent on luck. For the *beginner*.

When a game is as dependent on the starting player having good fortune as this game does, it's not easy.

Maybe MMRPG will have it's skill-required moments in the chapters and bosses ahead; I'll keep on keeping on to find that out, but, for the beginner that's used to the pure strategy of the Battle Network games [i.e., me], RPG is a big-time diversion from that, with all of its random missing, random negative statuses, and random multi-hitting. Some simpler difficulty setting in Chapter 2 may help get to grips with the game.

Either that or decrease the elemental bonuses of the stages in Chapter 2; Ice Man's and Fire Man's stage in particular. Ugh.

Edit [35 minutes later]: Look at all the times that I've said 'chance' and 'luck' in just this post alone. If I weren't so stubborn, It'd be really depressing. x)

@MegaBossMan : I know you have lots of experience at this, but, try to put yourself in the mindset of a player with less then 1/10,000,000th the BP total you have.

Cut Man can hit you 3x in one turn, making damage add up REALLY quick [and will wreck Bomb Man and Elec Man],
Guts Man has high attack and defense and is constantly forcing you to change [and will wreck Cut Man],
Ice Man can make it so that switching out is impossible [and will wreck Roll, Fire Man, and Oil Man],
Bomb Man can damage EVERYONE on your team at once [and will wreck Guts Man],
Fire Man can increase his defense at WILL [and will wreck Cut Man and Oil Man],
and Elec Man has absurd attack power [and will wreck Mega Man and Time Man].

Now, I haven't tried Time Man or Oil Man, yet, but, anyone who's played the original Mega Man will likely choose one of the original 6 RM's first.

No matter which one they choose, they'll be--please excuse my portuguese--f***ed. Their Mega Man will be at Level 2, and their Roll at Level 1, both woefully underpowered, losing fight after fight after fight due to either absurdly powerful side effects of the RMs' attacks, the pure offensive powers of the RM's concerning the elemental bonuses each stage has, or just due to simply not knowing enough to protect themselves and to make battles last.

Now, I know that some of this can be blamed on the beginner for not snooping around the game's menus and gathering information, first. That's a given in any RPG, for the most part. However, you have to admit, Boss, there's a lot of this game that considers luck into it [and yes, a formulae that you cannot trigger at will that randomly decides what is and isn't a Critical Hit doesn't have skill involved in it at all, and that makes it luck-based] MUCH more so than your own skill.

Again, keep a beginner's mindset, here, pleaseandthankyou; Until you level up your team--which will likely be stuck at MM and Roll for AT LEAST the entire first chapter, by the by--the Met in Chapter 0 is supposed to do the grinding, for the most part. I have to grind the first enemy in the game over and over and over again just to become strong enough to beat ONE boss?

You have to admit, Boss, even the Zero series was more friendly to newcomers and beginners than this.

Edit [43 minutes later]: Time Man can decrease your Speed pretty much at will [and wreck Guts Man]. Makes perfect sense, I have to concede, but, still, that's not easy on beginners at all--he already does enough offensive damage.

Edit [70 minutes after that]: Oil Man can attack any member of your party at will [and wreck Elec Man]. His speed--combined with the random-osity of critical hits--means that this is almost completely luck all by itself.

@MetaKirbSter : You sent me a PM, didn't you? I answered that. Go check. x)

@Spinstrike : Totally understandable; it is infuriatingly difficult to play, even for an X game. xD

@MegaBossMan : All time BP leader and a Mod, too? Now, you're just showing off. :P

@Acting Mod Reisrat : I annoy people on a regular basis, good sir xD; I just wanna make sure I don't make any Mods *pissed off*. BIG difference.

@MegaBossMan : "The game does have difficulty options, it's Dr. Light, Wily, and Cossack stories. Each one is harder."

I'm not entirely sure I've unlocked Wily and Cossack, but, that's not what I meant, anyway, good sir. I meant that CutMan should have an Easy diff, where Cutter-type attacks on his stage do 1.5x damage, a Medium diff where they do 2x damage, and a Hard diff where they do 2.5x damage, and an Expert diff where they do 3x damage.

Alter the attribute bonuses to be harder or weaker for each stage based on what diffifculty the player wants. Higher difficulties should naturally result in bigger rewards--more exp, better items, easier character unlocks. You can also, obviously, increase his stats as well on higher diffs--higher defense higher speed, giving him items, new attacks on the higher diffs, etc.

First, lemme start by saying that MMRPG is actually very well done and very promising, given that it's browser-based. I'm partway through Chapter 2 as of this post.

My only complaint--so far, anyway--is that the game is really, REALLY non-beginner-friendly. Note that I said 'beginner-friendly' and not 'easy'. There is a BIG difference.

I have 4 suggestions on how to fix this. Please keep in mind as you read this that these suggestions come from a *beginner* player who had to spend a good 15-20 minutes fight that stupid Flea and that crazy CutMan before finally realizing that the game has Types.

First, the game needs a tutorial. Forgive me, expert players, I know that this probably makes your skin crawl, but, as I've said, aside from that Met, the game's not beginner-friendly at all, and throws you RIGHT into the hard stuff immediately after the first stage, like the latter X series games [X5-X7] did. They weren't beginner-friendly, either.

Second, there should be difficulty settings for each chapter [or at least the beginning chapters], with less experience and less chance of item drops for lower diffs, and more experience, higher chances at items and easier character unlocks at higher diffs. This is to separate the first-timers from the hardcore experts; even at Level 2, CutMan's Rolling Cutter can hit up to 3x for what looks like up to 2/5ths of Mega's Level 1 health. Mind you, that's not taking Critical Hits into account, which--by the way--make each early fight extremely luck-based. A bad recipe for attracting beginners to keep playing onwards.

Third, make Chapter 1 longer. 1 Met does NOT give enough experience for the onslaught of skill, luck and knowledge needed for Chapter 2, especially since the game itself--not the boards, the game--doesn't have a tutorial of any kind. More fights, and maybe an optional fight with a more powerful enemy at the end of Chapter 1 [as a foreshadowing to the steep learning curve the game has] would suffice.

...and fourth, please eliminate [or at least, greatly minimize] the random-osity of the game [or, at least the early 2 chapters]. By this, I mean:

1) the random missing of attacks [granted, the enemies miss more than I do, but, still, that's just more unneeded luck],
2) the random damage numbers [which minimize the skill needed to push on and survive],
and 3) the random critical hits [which enemies score on me *WAY* more than I score on them]. They're completely luck based, and--for beginners, at least--they ruin the skill requirement of both *this* game, and for all traditional RPG's, in that matter. By 'traditional RPG's', I mean RPG-based turn games with attacks that do 25 damage the first time you use it, then, 28 the second time, then, 19, then, 42 [crit], then, 27, then, 20, then, 39 [crit], then, 26, etc., etc. There's less skill involved than luck with using random damage figures, especially if you're as woefully underpowered as the average beginner [again, expert players, 'beginner' is the key term, here] is at the start of the game.

The 6 main games in the Mega Man Battle Network series are prime examples of a non-traditional RPG--one where Skill DEFINITELY comes into play more than luck *ever* does. Sure, you can exploit weaknesses to do higher amounts of damage, and you can buff up attacks to make them stronger, but YOU can decide when to do so. Whether you love them or hate them [BN2 is my favorite, by the way--fights are so challenging in that one without using Program Advances], they're almost never random with attack patterns, and even *less* random with damage totals, calling forth your skill much more so than they call forth your luck.

So, yeah. That's all I have, so far. Forgive me if I come off as annoying or a whiny b***h [This is only my 3rd or 4th post on this forum, and I'm already complaining; sorry], but, this is where you post game based suggestions, no?

Feel free to scream at me about how wrong I am, now. x)

@MegaBossMan : Well, in the game's defense, Gravity Man would be pretty freaking hard to perfect, no? x)

@tobyjoey : I'll do my best. I'm not one to give up easily.....unless it's X7 [dem visuals. Oy].

@Acting Mod Reisrat : It could've be much worse. You could've started with X7. Ugh. Likewise, sir. Speaking of Mods, is there a list of the current higher-ups [i.e. Admins, Game Staffer(s) and Mods] around here so that I know who not to piss off by accident?

Greetings, fellow programs. I'm Michael, but, 'Mikey' and 'Mike' work just as well.

I'm 26, actually. Yeah. Ancient. I think I'm gonna turn to dust in 4 years. Anyway, I'm a bit of a late bloomer to the MM universe in general, with the Anniversary Collection being the first MM game I've ever OWNED [I used to play MM's 1, 2 and 3 at a former friend's house before that].

Since then, I've played MM's 1-8, X's 1-7, All 8 NA-released Battle Network titles, all 4 Zero titles, and all 3 Star Force titles; my all-time favorite MM game is STILL Mega Man 8. x)

I've played RPG for the first time, today; I mostly enjoyed it, but, I'd like to leave my thoughts on the nearest relevant section. Could someone point me in that direction, pleaseandthankyou?

Nice to be here, by the way. =)
