...but definitely something worth pointing out.

As you all already know, I joined this place while the Prototype was down, meaning I not only had 0 points in the game, but was incapable of earning any points. Nonetheless, I was able to post on the community boards without any issue.

Then, when the game came back up last night, I burned through the tutorial, and I checked the website to see the following on the community forum pages: "You must earn at least 5,000 points before you are allowed to post (Or something to that effect, anyway)." In a similar manner, I had to earn a certain number of points (Presumably 10,000) before it would let me start a new thread here in the Bugs section.

I am not mad about momentarily losing my ability to speak; a player of my prowess could reach the point threshold in negligible amounts of time. I understand that such barriers are in place to keep players who have barely experienced the game from coming onto the community forum and complaining about it. However, what I do not understand is why I was able to speak freely when I had no points at all, had not experienced the game at all.

I understand that player accounts with 0 points are not marked on the Leaderboard (Instead having "0th place" by their name), which could have something to do with the issue. How to go about fixing it, however, is up to you.

This was done not to long ago, when someone tried to flood the community with spam. The new rule started just yesterday. So that way, only people who have played the game can join the community. This is also done to keep people from constantly spamming. Besides, it makes sense that only the people who have played the game can join the community.

You are all very astute and all very correct. :P

Previously, there were no restrictions in regards to posting on the community other than having an account. In light of recent events, however, I had to implement some kind of anti-spam and anti-harassment rules to prevent further abuse of the system.

Now, someone has to have at least 5,000 posts to make a new post and 10,000 points to make a new topic. Points are incredibly easy to get and anyone has has played the game for more than 2 minutes will have enough to make a post at the very least. New threads can really clutter the forum if they're created too often so wanted to encourage people to post in existing ones instead before getting to that level, hence why the thread costs more. I think that it might feel unfair or jarring to new users at first, but eventually they will understand the reasoning.

That being said, I hadn't considered the implications of this on the bug-submission process... I could see it being a problem if someone tried to report a legitimate bug in the early-game but did not have enough points yet, though at the same time if I make the bug-report forum more lenient it could lead to the same problems I was trying to avoid - just more localized.

This is a perfect example of an issue I'd like everyone's feedback on as it will affect all new users and both make the community a bit safer but also make it a tiny bit less accessible. So, what do you all think? Keep the restriction, lower it, change it? Something else entirely? Please let me know! :P

I think the limit is perfectly fine, but maybe the Bugs forum should have a smaller restriction so that you can report early-game bugs. Or you can just keep the thing as it is and make early-game bugs be reported like in old times, with the Contact option.

I don't see how that's relevant, but sure, I'll go ahead and answer now so there's no gender confusion later.

I am, in fact, male. Roll just happens to be one of my favorite characters in the entire Mega Man series (Mostly due to her vast well of untapped potential, which I have spent much time delving into), so I use her as my avatar.

I got my answer, I'm keeping the posting limit, and people can always use the contact page. I realize the form itself is down right now, but the email address is confirmed to be working so it will have to do. Closing this thread.
