I'm making this because nobody else has (that I've seen here). The theme is Bad Box Art Mega Man and only affects the sprites for Mega Man, Proto Man, and Bass (as far as I can tell).
To kick this off, I'll simply say that the reason I'm using Purple-Alt Shadow Man that I'm calling BBA_Error_Man because the affected characters don't do a color change. (Yes I was disappointed by this)

Spot-on, Error Man! Truthfully it took quite a bit of work in not so much time, but luckily with a little finaggling it came out fine in the nick of time! Funnily enough, Bass and Proto Man weren't even supposed to get BBA alts. It was only when I finished Mega Man's initial sheet that I realized that since they all largely have the same form, it'd be possible to get them done too as long as things were kept simple and poses remained generally the same. Ideally it would've been cool if they had distinct ugly cover forms ala the MM10 U.S cover art, but alas, perhaps another year!
Now, you bring up a good point about the alts, and it was something I personally considered, but decided against for three distinct reasons:
1: Through what I researched, Bad Box Art Mega Man doesn't really change color in the first place. He has alts in Street Fighter X Tekken, but when using Robot Master weapons, he doesn't change color at all since it's really his little cool space gun that does all the work. For the most part it seems he's just a regular dude with a gun.
2: Most importantly, alts for the copy-cores quickly escalates to a lot of work. There's of course 20 elemental variants, but dual-core weapons also have sheets that mix and match as well; this leads to needing to update over a hundred sheets for each individual copy-core, especially combined with having to do separate left-right sheets.
3: This leads into the biggest point, where you have to justify time and effort. Truly I'm sure if I had planned better on my end I could've gotten a good head start, but at that point it becomes a tremendous amount of effort to sink into something that'll only be used for a day and doesn't add to the joke all that much.
That being said, I understand that element being missing could be a little disappointing at first! I hear you and if in the unlikely chance BBA Mega Man becomes his own character one day, somehow, I'll try to see what I can do on my end to amend that. Sorry everyone, but I hope you can enjoy what's there already!
On another note, the quotes for the three copy-cores have all been changed only for today as well. Sadly there's very little that was custom-written by me; most of the writing is genuinely taken (or heavily based) on mistranslations, poor translations, and awkward voice deliveries from all over the franchise!
As quickly as they arrived, as quickly as they left. The brightest flames burn out twice as fast, and the Bad Box Art Mega Men were the brightest flames we had. In commemoration, let us always remember the mark they left by me sharing these screenshots so we all don't forget by the end of next year, y'hear?
Well that was fun! The BBA robots marked another April Fools done and wrapped with! Let us know what you thought and what you think should happen next year!
I wonder if its possible if one year you release all of the April Fools costumes in the store. Who wouldn't want to play as a turtle? They could be extremely high price, though if you look at some people's bank accounts(zenny amount), it might be pretty easy to buy.
