We all (hopefully) know that you can use formatting options to make our profile not look like a giant wall of text. Of course when I use [time-man:left:taunt}, it shows up as text. Is there a reason why, or is it actually working, but I'm doing it wrong?

Yes. It should be [robot:left/right:base/victory/taunt/defeat/summon/slide/shoot]{robot-man} should become the sprite 
Or, just [robot:left/right] {robot-man} to make the mugshot

Also, at the bottom right of the posting editor, there's a very extensive, but helpful dropdown list that says "+ Show Formatting Options". Use that for any formatting issues or look at this thread on Formatting Guidelines.
