This is where the 3rd installment of the PMMCT took place, where the greatest Mega Man Character ever [at least, for now], was decided on by you, the people of Prototype.

There was 96 characters this time around, too.

Here's how it went down: In each battle, I posted pairs of characters, and the people of Prototype voted for their favorite character in each pair. Not who they thought would WIN that fight, but, which one they liked more than the other. VOTERS HAD TO HAVE VOTED IN ALL BATTLES THAT TOOK PLACE IN THAT ROUND, OR THEIR ENTIRE VOTE WAS NULL AND VOID.

Voters could edit their votes as much as they wanted, but, after 11:59 PM, all votes were final. The winners of each battle advanced to the next round. In the case of any ties, your truly made the deciding vote, like I always did, and, of course, I barred myself from voting, otherwise, like I always did.

The 12 characters that won their divisions faced off against each other in the Grand Division, the final Division of the Tournament, where they did battle against each other. The winner of THAT Division won the title of "Greatest MM Character Of All Time [at least, for now]".

Here's how the tournament went down.

If there are any questions, please post them either in here, PM me here on Prototype, or look for me in the Prototype Chat; I'm usually there every day.

SUNSTAR. Sure, Cut's Corner is a thing, but tell me this: If a solar god with the armor of a titan and PHENOMINAL COSMIC ALADDIN REFRENCES decided to blow up the earth, would you turn to that one scissors-wearing guy who appears on TV a lot for help? Because I sure wouldn't. Besides, the Rolling Cutter has this weird arc to it, making it tough to use. As for Gemini... That stage can go *REGGAE'D* itself twice over.

Plus, I already explained how awesome Sunstar is.

Edit: I just realized how it's even cooler that my avatar, Pharaoh Man, is similar to Sunstar in design. Plus, Pharaoh is a Flame Core, and my preferred background is Time type.

Need I say more?

I know it looks like I took my sweet time updating this, but, things happened to me. See Post #78 in this thread if you want the full story.

So, counting all the votes up to and including Rotom's [since his was the last one before 11:59 PM, EST on 4/27], here's what we got.

The Championship Battle!
Cut Man (1) vs. Gemini Man (4) vs. Sunstar (4)

Tie between Gemini Man and Sunstar, so, it's up to me to decide a PMMCT winner for the 1st time.

The research done between the two spoke volumes. One of the 2 has, overall, touched more people with more awesomeness than some will ever know. Think of E-102 Gamma from Sonic Adventure. He also appeared in only one major game in the series he appeared in, but, he left a lasting impact because of the things he did despite what he was.

This is easy. My vote goes to Sunstar.

The Championship Battle!
Cut Man (1) vs. Gemini Man (4) vs.Sunstar (5)

So, after a Runner-up finish in the original PMMCT, Sunstar wins PMMCT 3 in a close contest over 2 robots who undoubtedly are also Mega Man Classic superstars in their own right. The tournament was amazing right up until what happened to me happened to me, and if I'm honest, having 96 characters in it made it all the sweeter; that couldn't've happened without you guys making all those nominations and all those votes. You guys made me want to make a 3rd installment of this tourney because of how you enjoyed the 1st 2, and quite frankly, there's no reason to not expect a 4th; just don't ask me when it'll be. I don't know, yet. :P

Actually, that's one of the questions you guys can answer for me:

1. Would you like to see a PMMCT 4?
2. When would you LIKE to see it?
3. What did you think of PMMCT 3?
4. What do you think of the current method of breaking ties [me]?
5. What's better: A PMMCT with 64 characters or 96?
6. Any suggestions on what you would do to make PMMCT 4 better than the 1st 3?

All answers are greatly appreciated, as well as any other questions you may have [I'll answer them to the bestest of my abilities].

1. I wouldn't mind. I've been proven wrong twice now by expecting a repeat winner at some point in the 2nd or 3rd PMMCT (although Sunstar was already super close to winning a PMMCT already).
2. At least 2 months should pass, but no preference beyond that.
3. It was good, but I wouldn't change anything about it. The draw that PMMCT has to it is due to its simplicity in just showing up and voting. No need to add or take anything from that. The battle royale at the end was neat-o, but I wouldn't try to bracket too many of those throughout the tournament. It's easier to lose in a battle royale than a duel, and it might do some characters an injustice by pitting character A against an opponent that wipes the floor with the rest of the royale, then proceed to fight someone that character A might have actually been able to beat.
4. I've already PM'd you about this, but I think that you should only vote on the actual tie; voting on the other fights in the matchup is superfluous, especially because you have the chance of unnecessarily creating another tie by doing so. As far as you breaking the tie, I'm totally fine with that. It's only fair that you get an opinion at some point :P
5. 96. The more the merrier in PMMCT, both in voters and in competitors. I'd argue that 96 is more work than 64, but I don't think "more work" has ever stopped you before.
6. NOPE! Careful not to overcomplicate the simplicity of PMMCT in trying to improve the 4th over its predecessors.

1. PMMCT is a tradition here in the community. It's what binds us all- Roleplayers and Non-roleplayers alike- to this forum, aside from the chat. A PMMCT 4? Let me tell you one thing: If there WASN'T a 4th one... Now, that would just be plain wrong.
2. However long it takes for you to be prepared... Including plenty of food. ;)
3. It was a blast, and honestly quite shocking Gemini Man came so far... Perhaps that little advertisement gig took him this far.
4. The tiebreaker method to me is quite fair, actually.
5. I'd say 96... But why stop there? >:)
Because that would be about over 100, which would make this take so much lo-
Shut up and go back to Roleplay, Bt.
6. No, not really. It's fine the way it is, just as it always have been.

@ThatGuyNamedMikey :
1: Yeah, definitely; it tends to draw a lot of activity towards the Community, and that's pretty much almost usually a good thing. Nice to see actual posts outside the Roleplay section as well.
2. 5 months or more, probably; we've had three so far and constantly pushing them out will lead to a burnout. You have to keep in mind that people have to post consecutively for weeks and weeks, and if you're sending out the PMMCTs as if they're not a special occasion and more an obligation, people....will just lose interest.
3. Needed more Cut Man winning like he would in real life. But I suppose besides that, there was a lot of fun looking after results and wondering just how everyone cAN NOT BELIEVE CUT MAN'S NOT THE BEST MEGA MAN CHARAC
4. I'd agree with Doc. While I do believe that it's unfortunate you don't really get much of a say in the actual tournament often Mike, tiebreakers should more so be focused on breaking ties, not complicating other results with it. Your vote should clear up confusion, not bring other results with it.
5. 96, the more the m....dammit Doc, you're stealing all my answers today...Regardless, it allows for more submissions for anyone who'd feel disappointed their character didn't get in and just more opportunities to get input in.
6. So far, each and every character has had the requirement of being in a Mega Man game beforehand, but frankly....It's been made clear this is primarily a Mega Man Classic tournament, and because of the lack of detail from the original NES games, votes are more directed towards design and not necessarily a character's writing. However, a lot of the outside media has created and defined plenty of characters, as well as some of the strongest recent contributions to the Classic franchise such as Tempo / Quake Woman and Xander Payne. Things like Gigamix, the Archie comics, and multiple other sources add a lot of history and detail to the basic outline the original Capcom games provided, and while I doubt they'd rapidly shake up the tournament, I don't see why they should be barred from entering. This also allows characters like Bond Man to join the fray, who've proven to have their own cult following. I'd also like to see fan-creation characters such as BCA's Rhythm and Rock Force's Justice Man to see how they'd stack up, but.....Chances are, you'd just get a lot of submissions going "My Schmurple Crash Man character who's super-duper original", and that'd crap things up pretty quickly so perhaps another time 100 years in the future, when our tastes have grown more dignified or something

and to think i was gone for good... ugh

1. Heck yeah, I'd love to see another PMMCT here. Also, it was nice to have an increase in community activity here.

2. Not too sure when.

3. Eh, for my first PMMCT participation, this was really fun, and pretty hectic too. Though, I wasn't too fond that some of the matchups were pretty one-sided.

4. You being a tiebreaker was alright. I don't really have much to say about it, however.

5. 96, why not. Besides, there's a whole load of famous characters to nominate for PMMCT, and most of them are fan favorites too.

6. I got nothing. I'm ok with the PMMCT at the moment.

...

as much as i like cut man, i doubt he's ever going to win pmmct
there's no way those advertisements helped gemini, it was kinda wasteful
