heres a tactic for getting high star force for a certain core: step 1: put 2 fields that are the same core next to each other.
step 2: beat the fusion stage.
step 3: swap the two fields.
step 4: beat that fusion field for a total of 40% star force for that core!
i did this with cut man and metal man and got 40% cutter star force and im gonna do it with needle man and those 2 in order to add 120% for a total of 160% CUTTER STAR FORCE MAKING ICE SLASHER MORE OP AFTER IT IS DONE WITH ICE CORES!

This is definitely a good strategy to power up a specific type. I wonder if having a new discussion board for "Tips" or "Strategies" would be helpful?

I'd just like to mention this, but you would get 20% Cutter boost, not 40%. I, myself, just went in order of the Robot Masters. Consuming, yes, but it does provide results, and I would know. By the way, Ice Slasher is not OP when you have all the stars, due to there being only one Freeze Field. The hilarious thing is it was my main move back when I had 100 starforce.

I wasn't trying to offend any of your guy's strategies, just saying some stuff. On an unrelated side-note, this article says hilarious stuff about the Mega Man covers. Sadly, it mentions things that are not for children. Hilarious though.
