Alright everyone, this game definitely needs it's own FAQ for new players, but I'm finding it quite hard to pin-down what should be included. So, I'm just going to leave this thread here and if any of you notice things that are not clear or might be confusing to a new player, post them here and I'll use them to (someday) construct a full-page list of anything a newcomer would need to know. This exercise might also help me discover weaknesses in the website and/or prototype's design, so I encourage everyone to participate and let me know your thoughts in the comments. Thank you!
Please be aware that some of this information could be outdated. See the Official Question and Answer thread or post below if you have any questions.-MBM

The EDIT button and ability equiping. The first time I played, I didn't know how was I supposed to use the abilities I was winning, nor the boost/breaks. I had no idea it was the edit button, because... at least for me it wasn't really intuitive. So I think that would go here.
"Why isn't my [type] attack super-effective against all [type] robots?"
A brief explanation for every menu would be pretty great too. And maybe some basic battle stuffs, like the difference between the values in attack moves and support moves. That actually gave me an idea...

Thanks for the suggestions guys. For the time being, I changed the "edit" link in the prototype's menu to say "robots" instead. I also made the editor itself much more attractive looking with some new bells and whistles, but I'll get to that in another update. :) Hopefully the text change helps new players until I make it more intuitive and create/update the FAQ. And good call about the type-effectiveness too - I think many players coming over from Pokémon would be surprised to learn each robot has totally different weaknesses. Thanks again. :)
Pardon the bump, but I was playing this with some friends and none of them knew how to recruit other Robot Masters to their party. After you defeat one Robot Master, you're going to have special moves equipped to Mega Man, and due to the enemy parties growing in Level you're going to want to use these moves in the upcoming battles... which, in turn, prevents you from recruiting the other Robot Masters. I think having the game say how to get other Robot Masters somewhere would be a tremendous help.
@SmashBroPlusB : Thanks for the reminder. I've had a lot of people ask me about that and I keep forgetting to put some kind of event/message explaining it. I just added an event popup that appears directly after the first battle, hinting but not directly giving away how to unlock them. "Simply disabling a robot master will download its special weapon data for you, but if you can disable it using only Neutral Type abilities we might be able to download even more!" Hopefully this helps clear a bit of confusion for new players while still letting them feel a bit surprised when it happens. Thanks again for all the help!
Um, this isn't really about the game itself... For the forum, can we have a tutorial about how to upload a picture, embed a video, quote someone, make text in italics, or other things like that? I don't know how to do any of this or even if you can do this. If you can, is there/can we make a collection of all these commands? Sorry if this has nothing to do with the current topic/there already is a tutorial about this. Thanks.

"I can't unlock Roll/Disco/Rhythm! How exactly are you supposed to get them?"
Not sure if this is supposed to be a secret, but in my personal quest to unlock everyone, I apparently only managed to obtain Roll and Disco thanks to a programming error, and Rhythm continues to elude me for reasons yet unknown.
I know that they're supposed to come to you if you fail a certain number of times, but is there any other trick to it?

Are you supposed to unlock ALL of a Robot Master's abilities (granted they are the appropriate level) when you unlock them? I fought a Lvl 5 Iceman and only got him and his Ice Breath. I tried to equip Cutman with Ice Slasher (Freeze/Cutter Type) because I noticed that Iceman had it, but it didn't show on Cutman's Ability List. Did I overlook something?
@LEGOman3.0 : Click and drag the robot you want to transfer from one "box" of robots to another. i.e. If you want to transfer Mega Man from Light to Wily, click and drag on Mega Man into the box that shows Dr. Wily's bots.
new question: is there a way to change the owner of the bots? for example: making wily the owner of a bot unlocked by light no grammar this time, woonps
@Toast : So there's two very simple ways you can do this.
1: Simply drag and hold on the mugshot of a Robot Master in the 'Robots' tab, and then drag their mugshot into the doctor you wish to change them into! This is the insanely simple path, though I believe this is only support on desktop (so your computer, PC, Laptop, and preferably on Google Chrome)
2: If you find the above doesn't work at all, click on a robot, look at their information, and you should see an option labeled 'Player'; click on the doctor option, and it should let you manually choose which doctor owns that robot.
Sorry, I was wondering about how to change the owner of the robot. Such as which buster would be powered up, or the player text color. I'm sorry about the misunderstanding.

@Toast : Ah, I understand. Those boosts are determined by whoever originally unlocked that Robot Master, so as of now, there is no way to change who the original owner of the robot is once you've made the unlock. Would that be something being worth changing?
@Soren : Stars? Once you've progressed far enough, you'll unlock a Starforce chapter; collecting elemental stars will make the stats of your robots stronger and stronger, with the most elementally plentiful types making RMs 30x as strong as their base stats! That's why you may see a discrepancy between the stats of your team and the stats of top players on the leaderboard. That being said, there's so many stars to collect and collecting all of them doesn't award you much beyond your own satisfaction, so you definitely don't have to collect all of them. If you lean only towards Cutter robots, for example, you may just want to collect stars of that type if you really just want them to have extraordinary boosts. It's certainly not a necessary aspect of the game, so you can feel free to collect as many or as little as you so choose.
