I've had some first-hand experience with Mega Man, and I found he was a great character. Of course, he was no Meta-Knight but moved perfectly fine. Course, perhaps it's cause I analyze his moves and play out how he plays in my mind, and it just happened to pay off at the Demo at Best Buy.
To be honest, I think only Final Cutter is bad. As a professional Smasher, Stone works great defensibly and can take most attacks, and when your time is up, simply perform Final Cutter as fast as you can to stun your opponent. Works great. Although, Final Cutter has terrible damage output and knockback and as a recovery move, it's the worst, only next to Ike's.
Also, I feel Hungrybox was more chasing his opponent if anything. He made great use of Sky Suplex, especially in Punch-Out!!. I feel he only lost due to the cheap Sudden Death and because Zero Suit's range was much better. If anything, his opponent was really just using Smash Balls and the Laser beam to get by. In the Grand Finals, Hungrybox was definitely relying on skill, while Zero Suit just spammed a technique and bounced around the field. Effective, but there's a reason why people booed.
Anyway, I completely respect your opinion and I wanted to show my response. Not every character and strategy works for everyone, and everyone has a different voice on a subject. *Cue final chapter from Gigamix*
Because of all the hype Nintendo has been getting, they sent a few demo copies to notable people. Did you ever think you were a casual gamer? Well, I don't think you're clueless.
I don't think Proto Man or Bass could ever be in it. Third-party characters are extremely hard to find and use, let alone put in the game, hence the lack of them compared to the other characters, and that taking another third-party from the same series would be a waste. My dreams of Simon Belmont having a Captain N reunion....is none no more. Cause Simon Belmont hasn't been on Nintendo on a long time. And that we're overdoing the third-party list. Also, 38 characters, going to be bigger than Brawl.
Unfortunately, I have never played a Fire Emblem game so most of today's reveal was lost on me. That being said, the characters themselves look fun and interesting and I really like the art style but... more sword users? Really? Oh well. I do applaud Nintendo for adding so many female fighters though, and I mean that. And it couldn't have come at a better time (looking at you, Ubisoft). But whatever, there's nothing they could reveal now that would be any cooler than the Mega Man reveal we already got. At least to me. That was like a dream come true. :')
I've played a few, but not enough to get me excited. When Nintendo revealed "that girl" or whatever her name was, I was pretty disappointed cause she looks way too much like a Marth clone. Considering there was 2 minutes left in the video, I was certain more were coming. While "that guy" was a character I didn't care about, the high point was good old CF. I squealed in a high voice and I said the good words our Falcon friend is known. When he was preparing his good old punch, I was saying it with him. Then he got interrupted, You can't interrupt it. First thing I'm going to do when I get my hands on Smash, is get CF and beat up "that guy" for daring to interrupt the Falcon. Gotta love the Chrom troll though. Take that, Gemtasu! He's a Final Smash!
If I were to recommend a Fire Emblem, it would most definitely be FE Awakening. It's just more polished, and the story works better for me. And the prospect of losing a valued team member in battle will leave a hole in your heart. Although, Fire Emblem is a RPG series that I really haven't played as much as other Tendo styles. Maybe the art style?
Anyway, I prefer them being announced than Chrom of Shulk. Chrom is too expected and Shuld is ANOTHER sword-holder. And I don't like Xenoblade all that much.
